Next month, construction will start on the two tallest residential towers in New Jersey. It may not surprise you that they will bear the Trump name. Trump Plaza Jersey City, a $415 million condominium project, will include two triangular towers, one 50 stories high, the other 55 stories. Together, Trump Plaza Jersey City will offer 862 luxury condominiums.

The towers' positioning and design will provide striking views of the Manhattan skyline from nearly every apartment. Each building will offer a rooftop swimming pool, a business center, an 8,000-square-foot fitness center, an enclosed basketball court, and a private film theater.

I am the largest developer in Manhattan, but I decided to go to Jersey City because I see incredible potential there. I am pretty good at predicting trends, so let's hope this is a big one. I obviously think Jersey City has a great future, or I wouldn't be there.

This time, I'm not doing it alone. I've teamed up with Hoboken-based Metro Homes. Dean S. Geibel, who with his partner Paul E. Fried runs Metro Homes, initially pitched the idea to me because he knew that I liked to do things that were really big. I knew this project would be highly visible from Manhattan, and I believed this was a partnership that could succeed.

Although I often work alone, in this case, I thought there was definitely strength in numbers. Metro Homes obviously could have put up a couple of buildings and called it a day. But they saw the impact a partnership with the Trump Organization would have. Likewise, I could have just marched into New Jersey and started building.

Instead, we both recognized the power of a good business partnership. I respected their knowledge of the market, and they held the Trump organization in high esteem. Together, we knew we could make great things happen.

Even Jersey City's mayor Jeremiah Healy commented on the importance of my crossing the Hudson. He said, "I think it really cements Jersey City as the hottest place to be in the Northeast."

I think this New Jersey project has amazing potential.

Donald, I remember dancing with you many years ago and telling you that when a building becomes famous, the name on the building becomes famous. You took that comment, talked it over with friends who agreed, named Trump Tower and promoted a fabulous dream. It made your name one of the most famous on earth. When I see that you are using that fame to help promote talented people from all walks of life, it makes me immensely proud. Keep spreading the name, keep making it a fabulous dream- not only for yourself- but for people who dream everywhere on earth.

Teamwork is an essential part of a sucessful venture. And to find the "right" people to become a part of the team is even harder. Mr. Trump, how do you determine who you want to do business with other the than the underlying "money" factor???

I heard about the project the first day it came out, and I've been looking for a website every day since. But guess what? There isn't one! Also, what's with no Trump Tower (original) website, listing botiques, etc. Anway, I'll be looking for a Trump Plaza JC website.....

As a former long-time resident of Hudson County I was especially glad to see this news, Mr. Trump. It's amazing to me how much improvement there has been in New York City over the past 20 years ... and big-name firms willing to take a risk and invest have been a big part of the force behind those improvements.

I hope Jersey City can benefit as well. The Sopranos are fun, but in the real world, Jersey City and Hudson County have been getting way too little respect.

It would be great if you could make this post required reading for the "Apprentice" candidates as well. I'm forever amazed

Why does Mr Trump only invest in the US? The property market here in Paris is so lucrative that he or other US investors should have a closer look!

Why name it Trump Plaza Jersey City? Because Trump is the "Brand"! When you market a brand you are building brand recognition and awareness. Just because the brand is already an icon does not mean you stop promoting it! Brand marketing has tremendous business value and can open or create even more opportunity.

Might want to be careful on the use of acronym's as a convenient short-cut though in PR, Marcom, etc. In this particular case...TPJC...does not help the brand image. Think about it. My opinion. :)

I am thrilled about Trump Plaza Jersey City. I live within walking distance from this location and am excited to know that these condos will be available in our neighborhood. When will you have floorplans and pricing available? Our family is eager to see what you are offering here. We think this part of jerey city is a diamond in the rough too.
