In the current issue of Vanity Fair magazine, actress Teri Hatcher offers a very honest, open look at her life, in addition to posing for some gorgeous photos. She speaks out about horrible child sexual abuse that happened to her more than 35 years ago. Teri says she was molested by an uncle when she was onlyfive years old. It finally stopped and, for decades, Teri didn't tell anyone it happened.

But several years ago, Teri heard about a girl who killed herself after being molested by the very same man. No longer being able to keep quiet, she went to authorities with her own story. She almost backed down at the last minute, but kept up her courage and testified against the creep. Because of Teri's brave involvement, the man went to jail.

Although prosecutors urged her to go public with her story, Teri chose to stay anonymous when it was all over. At the time, her career was faltering, and she didn't want people to think she was using the sensational story in order to get publicity for herself.

Now that she's one of television's hottest actresses again, Teri figures it's OK to speak out. No one will think she has an agenda other than to encourage young girls who are being abused to speak out.

I have a lot of respect for Teri. I know her and she's terrific. She could've used her personal pain to jumpstart her career a couple years ago and didn't. And now, it takes a lot of courage for her to speak up on such a painful topic.

Wow. That is pure. What a beautiful person to do that. It's sad that she even had to think about it - but that's media and it can be quite the cynical world.

Put the Duke Lacrosse team and the like on notice, worst things can happen to them, too.

I know its not related to the post but its very imp. its the only way i can reach to Mr. Trump and tell him about a potential copyright violation of The Apprentice.

Subject: potential copyright violation of The Apprentice.
Mr. Trump - I am a finance and technology student residing in India. I am really a big fan of The Apprentice series.
Here in India a show titled "Business Baazigar" has been started

Mr. Sharma, such a show, even though it may be a knock-off would not be considered a copyright violation unless it copies almost exactly "The Apprentice".

Any show can use a skyline shot similar to the Apprentice's since you can't put a copyright on the New York City skyline, nor any other cities skyline.

Hope this helps you out. The concept for the show however is something that under most circumstances would be debateable in courd.

This subject was part of the five hour curriculm I developed and delivered through the Healthy Relationship prevention program delivered to youth, in school, aged 13-18. This program was funded through grants channeled to the local Domest Assault Shelter. If you can get survivors of physical or sexual abuse to speak about it, the healing process can begin for them. It is unbelievable how frequently this actually happens, and while we mostly hear about females, it happens to males too. The probelm is that when victims begin to talk, our culture tries to hush them up. The subject is treated like taboo. Victims are revictimized by being made to feel they should be ashamed of what happened and keep it to themselves, or making them feel it was their fault instead of the perpetrator's. This is because the subject holds such pain, and the listener feels uncomfortable. It is easier to avoid the topic and pretend this doesn't happen - but it does. I have always respected Oprah for working to bring awareness and healing for survivors. Thank you for supporting this beautiful, strong woman, and speaking out.

Something to keep in mind. Many survivors of physical and sexual abuse never even tell. They hide it inside. While attending night classes, I was in a psych. class, with 22 students. It was evenly split 11 males/ 11 females. The subject of abuse was the topic of the evening. During discussion over coffee, at break, I discovered that 7 of the 11 women had been sexually abused - the men who were abused as children usually won't even talk about it ever.

Males usually become angry and agressive toward others following this victimization. Some freeze up when something triggers the experience. Some stop practicing hygiene. Often, female victims of this abuse will react with anger directed at themselves: Anorexia, and eating disorders, becoming obese, prostitution, drugs and drinking. Before you judge anybody, on actions you don't repect, it is good to keep in mind that you don't know where they have had to tread. Then, be a part of the solution, instead of a part of the problem. Before I ask, I try to ask myself, is this going to build or destroy?
