Company Loyalty

If you're in business, do you think your employees are loyal to you and to your company? You probably think they're pretty faithful. But are you really and truly sure?

I'm sure the executives at Coca-Cola are still reeling over the secretary who was accused of trying to sell company trade secrets to the competitors over at Pepsi. Fortunately, the executives at Pepsi were honorable and immediately turned her in. She and her accomplices were busted and now face some serious charges.

The case has made Coke and other corporations re-evaluate how to keep sensitive company information safe. It has also made them look at the screening process for hiring. Everybody's careful when they're hiring somebody who is going to handle payroll, someone who is going to be writing checks. But you need to be just as careful when you're hiring someone who is going to have access to your company's most critical information - whether a vice-president or a receptionist.

There's one other way to avoid the problem in the first place. If you make all your employees feel like part of the team - if they all feel as if they have a vested interest in the overall success of your business - then most likely these situations won't happen.

It's lucky for Coke that Pepsi did the right thing and I have a lot of respect for the people at Pepsi for doing it. A lot of competitors might have played a lot dirtier.

In the meantime, what could be so secretive about Coke? Doesn't everybody already know what that stuff is made of?

Donald, To me loyalty is someone that will always support you publicly even if in private they might disagree with you.

Loyalty, Honor & Honesty are things I take very seriously! Both in business and my personal life. The rewards for NEVER breaking these bonds goes far beyond simple monetary issues for people who Live with these values. As an Entrepreneur IT Contractor to some very large organizations, I extend my obligation so far as to agree to NOT work for any direct competitors for an agreed period (usually 1 - 2 years after contract end). I include this in my contracts not as a request from the clients, but as testament of my commitment to my clients. Amazing but true in the computer industry today, even large corporations like Microsoft and even possibly the Trump Organization, there are holes in network security for confidential corporate information to be stolen

Did those morons actually think they could steal one of the most prized recipes in Busines today and sell it to an extremely high profile company and get away with it ? Get real. How on Earth do people like that get jobs in those positions in the first place ? Oh yeah, that's right, they SEEMED trustworthy at first. Sure. We ALL do. Again, get real.

I have one main statement in life, "Loyalty above all else, except honor" I commend Pepsi for being honest. I feel proud to be sitting here drinking a diet Pepsi. That coke employee should be jailed just for stupidity alone, not to mention the other long string of charges awaiting them.

With all due respect Mr. Trump... you're starting to sound like a broken record.

Wow, Donald! I believe as long a person work for someone, no faithfull at all! Even, in marriage too, there is no faithfull at all! Because when we already work for somebody, suddenly we are taking for granted each other. This happened for company or marriage. People are looking for their own secure

I hate loud music unless it is mine and I'm the one playing it.

Yes, it's hard to get loyalty these days. Even money and perks don't always work! There are other stuffs that matter. Attention from the boss could be good. There's nothing wrong for the CEO saying "Good Morning" to the janitor. Come on! janitor cleans the office everyday. Imagine what he could do? What if someone willing to pay for just a little information like who's business card was left on the boss's desk.

"There's one other way to avoid the problem in the first place. If you make all your employees feel like part of the team - if they all feel as if they have a vested interest in the overall success of your business - then most likely these situations won't happen." True to the bone!

"In the meantime, what could be so secretive about Coke? Doesn't everybody already know what that stuff is made of?" Nope! ;-)

I appreciate the value of a fax machine. They are quick, reliable and so are the transmission records.

In my line of work they are critical in requesting an order. Especially when it is difficult getting through to a Dr.

Everyone is accountable.

Concerning CEO's comment... It may be a broken record but it is one that needs to be played over and over again. If you haven't noticed in the news and even in the general public loyality is an action that seems to be sub-standard to the working force today.

Hmmmm... interesting that you would note this. So, it seems that you have an interest in all of your employees, down to the bathroom clerks. But, do you REALLY know what some of your management is doing? Some, in your house, don't really seem to have taken the time to get to know you. They would like to think that "they," are Donald Trump! It's quite disturbing, indeed. You don't even act like the Donald Trump that they pretend to be, as you are a tremendous guy. May I say, megalomania, on their part? Power trip addicts, perhaps?

Mr. Trump - Loyalty will have always function in two ways: in synchronous way (in real time) or in asynchronous way (not in real time). It could be between boss, employee, competitors, colleagues, best friends, etc.

This isn't just a matter of loyalty. It is also theft which is a form of deception. This act is also a betrayal of trust. If you don't have trust, you don't have a relationship. I think making everyone part of the organization, and letting them know they are valued may reduce some of this activity, but I also think careful background checks, and careful security measures are a good leaders responsibility. Rob me once, shame on you. Rob me twice, shame on me.
