Home : Knowledge Plus Ambition = Success

Knowledge Plus Ambition = Success

Data from the U. S. Census and other sources tell us that people with college degrees usually earn more money than people who don't have them.

But no matter how hard you scour the Internet, you won't find any statistics aboutthe growing number of self-educated entrepreneurs who are joining the ranks of the supremely successful. Some of them have college degrees, some don't. It doesn't matter that much. A combination of knowledge and ambition propels them into the ranks of the extremely wealthy.

A good place to study these new achievers, and find inspiration, is Entrepreneur Magazine's Young Millionaires 2006 list.

There you'll meet young entrepreneurial millionaires like Tina Wells, founder of the Buzz Marketing Group, Maureen Kelly, founder of Tarte Cosmetics and Jeff Fluhr, founder of StubHub. You'll also find Andrea Lake, one of the Apprentice candidates from last season.

And you'll find out something else pretty interesting. When Entrepreneur asked each of these young millionaires the question, "When did you first realize you had made it?" not a single one answered, "The day I graduated from college" or, "The day I earned my MBA." Every one said something like "The day my products got into QVC" or, "The day The Wall Street Journal profiled my company." It's progress in the real world, not an academic setting, that makes the difference.

So study hard and add the skills you need. But don't omit raw ambition from your success formula. If that's missing, all the book learning in the world won't bring you the riches you want and deserve.

Ethiopian's proverb "Don't give up as a Christian" that tells it all. Don't give up in getting the final answer for your success even the formula you are using is very complicated and looks untouchable. You can make it simple only when you are ready to learn and open to see the open doors forward. I like your blog Mr. Sexton and I applied for the enterpreneurship mastery program too. Lets do it.

Yes, I believe so, Michael! Also, if we can speak out for our ambition, our goals, our dedication to people and so on!
In fact, I feel pity to people who purpose to deceive people because they are too much watching action movies! Get up, this is a real life, NOT A MOVIE!

I appreciate your positive comments but what if you've tried for years (decades)and found no support, no family, no credit, no cash, no house, no resourses. What if you're 50 and still dreaming with no retirement because you devoted yourself to the people around you and not to money or a career? Has the American dream failed? And what about all the people out there willing to take your last $40 or $100 or $500 without the blink of an eye...? I have never given up but I have never succeeded in a worldly sence. What advice do you have for me? Can I guess? Greg.

This is so true. The business world is littered with thousands of people who are self educated and have well above average doses of motivation and have made tremendous things happen. read a book called "The Making of a Blockbuster" and you'll find such a story in the pages of that book.

The knowledge and ambitions is the most important mainstay for a successful business. I do agree upon this Mr. Sexton. I would add some more facts to this blog, with the purpose of supporting your ideas. The knowledge is a good tool, but to build up a house you need to use the tools. Ambition is an energy that excites and promotes the knowledge to come up to the light. Subsequently, combination of knowledge and ambitions makes a human more powerful, more creative, more successful. Generally speaking, knowledge is on state of theory. It comes to function only when it can be used for certain purposes: in marketing – to strengthen the market; in production- to improve the quality; in competition – to defeat the opponents etc. I won't leave this comment without mentioning the experience. Experience is a generator of knowledge, and even is easier to learn from it than from theory. If you don't put in function your knowledge, you shall never find a concrete result of it. Get the combination as above, success will find you.

Rightly said Mark Twain, 'The harder Iwork , the luckier I get'. There is no doubt that the knowledge is the main underlying force that enables us to achieve our ambitions.

But one must be ambitious and would then alone aim high and learn high.
Great thoughts from a genius and guru like like

Thanks for scntilating words,

Mr. Michael, when I arrived in the U.S. a couple of years ago, I could barely speak english. I also never owned a degree. With a lot of studing, desire and motivation, I became a successful entrepreneur. And if I did it, anybody can. Thank you for the great article.

Hmmm... I am not entirely certain that I can agree with what you are saying Mr Sexton. To clarify, do you mean to say that the lack of a university degree is the ingredient for success on the basis that you are self sufficient and motivated enough to amass knowledge? <Beats the purpose of TrumpU I should think>.

Secondly what of us poor souls who are unfortunate enough to not be able to focus on our own ambitions let alone nurture them due to any manner of ills from character flaws to chronic depression. Any suggestions?

Hotels.de was an entreprenual effort. Are you letting the real estate entrepreneurs know that a computer knowlege of the listing in the area along with business contacts not only finaciers but employees of companies helps when trying to locate people to rent or buy?

Success is primarily measured according to society perception. University degree money or Univeristy of life money both may come with unwanted extras. Non the less we need it and have to do what needs to be done. I personally have pain stakingly learnt to eliminate the way of thinking of success in terms of the obvious. Trust yourself enough to organically break through any obstacle

correctly said...one must dream and equipped himself with patience and hardwork..
