Recently I did something that was totally out of character for me. I always talk about taking chances - whether in business or in life -- and this time I really took a big one. I agreed to take part in a huge WWE wrestling extravaganza, headed up by an amazing man named Vince McMahon. He can put on a show the likes of which I’ve never seen.

For this so-called Battle of the Billionaires, a record 81,000 people filled the football stadium where the Detroit Lions play. Vince and I handpicked wrestlers to represent us in the ring. If his guy, Umaga, lost the match, I would shave Vince’s head. If my guy, Bobby Lashley, lost the match, Vince would shave mine.

These two wrestlers really went at it and, at the end of the evening, my man won. In front of all these people and the millions watching pay-per-view, I got to shave Vince’s head. (Later, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin came up and whomped me good. Talk about not fighting fair!)

It was an unbelievable evening setting records in every way from pay-per-view to television ratings to stadium attendance. Even the New York Times did a major piece on the fact that it was so successful and the job that Vince and his crew do is so unbelievable.

I’m glad I took the chance and decided to be part of it. Oftentimes, the risks far outweigh the benefits and the outcome isn’t worth it. But to be successful in life and business, you have to be willing to take chances to create wealth . Fortunately, this time around the risk paid off. The event generated a lot of buzz. It was a blast. And, most importantly, I got to keep my hair.

Wrestling....ehm! What about playing chess?
I believe as entreupreneur, the person must able to read the situation the same when we are playing chess. Yes, definitely, we must anticipate all situation to prevent the risks. In fact, there is a time that we must in lost position. Lost in game is not mean that we are a looser! But, the situation is unsupportive to business condition.
However, doing business is like circle our finger, we are unsure that we are able to exist in the market or not. Nothing harm to try!
The important to build business that we must able to build network first, then we sit down together with them to start the business and maintain it!
Fail? We discuss later..............................!!!

Donald speaking of wrestling, I was reading an article entitled "Pour Trump" It's about the construction of the second hotel tower in Atlantic
City. (found using google under Trump in the news). Anyway, at the end there was a link written as such:

Trump, Kiyosaki, Buffet
Call This the Perfect Business 8 Future Entrepreneurs Wanted
www.SoundAdvice4You.com

I went there and found out it has nothing to do with you that I know of. However, I didn't listen to the whole SALES pitch. But I could tell it was of inferior quality. So, I thought I would bring it to your attention just in case it's someone making money off of your name or should I say Brand? So, if your not involved in any way, maybe someone should clean up their act. In otherwards "Get Real! " Is that too strong of language? In otherwards if you want his attention this might not be the way to get it.

Do you end up wrestling often with people trying to prophet from your name?

Normally in my comments on this blog, I try to be pro Trump. This is one time, where I cannot. I did not watch the wrestling match, but I did see the commercials and promos leading up to it. The ads in my opinion made Mr. Trump look tacky, and it cheapened my opinion of the "Trump" Brand. There in lies my concern. When we establish a business brand based on a personal name, it becomes much more difficult to separate in the public eye the image of the person from the image of the business brand.

I'm glad in the minds of many the event was a success, and I agree Mr. Trump should be able to kick back and have fun in his life. If that's all this was, then good on him. If this was about promoting the Trump name as a business brand, then I seriously question if this form of exposure accomplishes that targeted agenda.

As I type these words I am reminded of Howard Hughes. The business accomplishments of Howard Hughes were incredible, but today those accomplishments fade from our memory as now, when we think of the name Howard Hughes, we think of the eccentric, perhaps psychotic recluse.

By his involvement in the WWF event, what I saw was a business mogul losing business image focus. I would rather see images of Mr. Trump kicking back and having fun with his family on an outing, then as he was presented through his participation on the WWF. I once heard on "The Apprentice" Mr. Trump's children say how when at home, Mr. Trump can be found eating a burger in a sweat shirt. That's the kind of man I'd buy real estate from...a man just like me. The WWF event reminds me of the Howard Hughes eccentric recluse image. I'd have a real mental hurdle to jump over to want to do business with a person of such image.

I will end this by saying, over all, I am pro Donald Trump, but I'm no "Yes man"!

Hello Mr. Trump,

You are my model. I would say..the risk you took was brave. No matter how big or small the risk might be in life....I believe it's worth giving our best and thinking big about it. I assure you that I will never ever give up in life. I'll make you proud and I hope to see you in the winner's circle.

God's Blessings.

Dear Mr. Trump:
I am rather shocked.
The previous 8 bloggers are not what i would expect to find on The Donald Trump Blog. LOL
I was enjoying your blogg about the wrestling until i realised that you wouldn't be doing the wrestling yourself. At that point as i continued to read, waiting for the humanitarian tag, things started to feel a little elitist and rather ill-conceived the more i read.
I am of two minds: it was a success but it kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth. There is something almost obscene about powerful monied men paying some poor schmucks [sp?] to champion them; paying them to slam each other around a wrestling ring as stand-ins for what would have been the individuals themselves among we lesser folk.
Come on, The Donald, fess up. It was kind of border-line and gave you a cheap boost to the ego didn't it.
I do admire the fact that you would take an albeit calculated personal risk such as this. It does show your fun side. But next time don the wrestling toggs yourself and have at 'em!!
Cheers,
Carl

Mr. Trump-
Greetings from SUN Sports & Entertainment Inc., in Dallas TX. As a CEO of a publicly traded professional sports and entertainment Company that produces world championship combat sports (MMA) its nice to see the diversity of a billionaire finally getting into SPORTS!!! I presume I like many Trump Fans are wondering when you were going to make a BIG play into Sports? We saw the success of Tour de Trump and was curious if you made a move - what would it be? There are some fledgling sports franchises in NBA - NFL - MLB - NHL or would you like to create your own or acquire a one under the radar??

Mr. Trump,

If your wrestler would have lost, would you have allowed Vince to shave your head? This competition of shaving heads definitely created a lot of BUZZ. I'm sure this generated revenues for Vince and WWE but what was in it for you?.......rickyl

As a Post Script to my previous blogg entry consider my musings:
You know Mr. Trump, the more i think about it and look at your various posed pictures, and watch the Apprentice Show, and listen to the media hype over your hair, the more i think the greatest measure of success MIGHT actually have been for you to have lost the wrestling match and shaved your head. I think it migh have been the start of a whole new image make-over. I think you might look very good with a brushcut. I think it might give you that "i mean business" appearance to go with your no nonsnse successful style of business. Just a thought.

Mr. Trump is a really brave man. For entrepreneur like him, the courage is the most important, and he shown it in front of millions of people. I know that his hair is very important for him and I just can imagine how much courage was necessary to take a such a risk. Bravo Mr. Trump, you are strong man and a real leader! I'm glad to hear that you are planning to invest in Montenegro. We need such a visionary and brave man here. I would be honored to meet you some day.

Lets face it Mr. Trump, you were the only true Billionaire in this match. According to Forbes list of billionaires Vince McMahon is not there.
Good for you for stepping out of your comfort zone and doing this match. Thanks to you & McMahon and Wrestlemania....the Detroit area hotels were sold out and the areas economy was boosted by $25 milion dollars in hotels, taxes, restaurants in the area etc...

I would have never tuned in to the finale of the Apprentice, (television is so malevolent in my book), had you not taken the risk with the WWE Organization. I, for one, am glad you did. Although I did not get the pay-per-view, nor did I travel to the SilverDome, I believe I got the point! That no matter how big you are, you still have to grow and develop new leads, and follow up on their potential. I feel like I was included even before I drifted to the Trump University Web Site. [And I really don't watch WWE all that often either.
Thank-you Mr. Don!
Sincerely,
J. Glen Dale
