I’ve heard misery loves company but this is ridiculous.

Supposedly, there’s a new fad in London called “misery” clubs. Visitors grab a bowl of chopped onions to help them start crying about whatever’s bothering them in life. This is no joke.

The trend started in Japan where businessmen rent rooms by the hour to watch sad movies or pay money to attend group cry-athons and “tear therapy” meetings. It’s all part of the belief that crying is somehow therapeutic.

But I think it’s pretty stupid. If you have a problem - whether it’s in business or in your personal life -- then solve it. Figure out the best plan of action to resolve whatever issue has become a stumbling block for you. Then do it.

There are way too many people who are stopped dead in their tracks by obstacles. Instead of looking at them as challenges, they resign themselves to defeat. And that means failure which shouldn’t be in anyone’s repertoire.

So my advice? If you have a problem, fix it. Don’t pay someone to go sit in a room somewhere to sniff onions and cry about it.

Right on, Mr. Trump. I'm currently in the midst of my own personal battle, but I know that crying about isn't going to get it solved; which is why I walked six miles to some area businesses to apply for jobs and hand out copies of my resume. Don't laugh; I have an interview tomorrow at one of those businesses; though I must admit, I did bum a ride off a passing sheriff to get home. That you can laugh at. I'll let you know if I do get the job; it would go a long way towards solving several of my problems. Your advice to stay positive is a real gem. Folks, one way to stay positive is to laugh as much as possible. I watch Jay Leno, read jokes, and try to make sure that when I find myself walking down memory lane, I only remember the good memories. I find myself laughing and enjoying life a little more each day, and each day, I know I'm a little closer to winning my biggest battle, the struggle to stay positive when faced with hard times.

P.S. Congratulations on your new granddaughter, Mr. Trump!

This is cute, where can I join? Okay, kidding aside, this is another case of people taking advice to the extreme. It is true that psychologist have found that--for some people--crying can be theraputic. However, many people will say you learn the most from your failures. Taking this advice to the extreme that these "misery clubs" are, we should then start a club with the intent of failing, on purpose, to learn!

If you happen to be one of those people who need to cry to get things off your chest, give yourself 10 minutes. After that, as Mr. Trump said, get to figuring out how to solve whatever is troubling you. Beyond that, you can set your brain up for a pattern of reacting to problems with sadness, which is depression oriented. Something no one should be in a club for.

Nothing worth commenting on here! Maybe I should start a fad like that. Do you think I could make some money with that?

Just when you thunk you heard it all.........along comes another dumb story. Does it give them gas at the same time?

It sounds amusing on the surface, but really everyone is different and it could help some men to get in touch with their emotions. There's a saying among women "you feel better after a good cry"...and maybe some men are trying it. Maybe it releases endorphins.
They can always pick themselves up afterwards and face the world again after letting go of their pent-up feelings.
However, if they feel the need to cry on a regular basis they should probably seek professional help. It doesn't help anyone to sit around crying all day.

This sounds ridiculous to me. It sounds like a form of self-indulgence via suffering. Birds of a fleather flock together as they say. It's bad enough something is bothering you, but to form a group to gripe and moan about it seems to be useless in solving the problem. Yeah . . . definetly a form of self-indulgence through self-inflicted suffering. Self-centered is more like it.

Mr. Trump,

do you know that what impressed me much in US where the people?
that walking on the street many black people which never seen before say: hello!! how are you today? and as proud as pregnant mother well, each one tell after that words: I will pray for you! Commenting that God really blessed America with such people the answer was like..yeaah, at this hour they did*t work who know what they will? well, I look again, nothing wrong, the serenity on teh face and yes that hour, HUD may need help to reach all of them properly, but reading further about the small isle Timor and his people from Timor East..the childrens grow together no child play alone there and yes make noise! :) especially with Dudu karreta *game* is about a circle and a piece of tiny 40cm wood piece ..imagine that they play like for cars!! the childrens, the 40%population are living with less than 1.5euro/day not enough to sustain the whole family, really , as long that each area has treasures as position as, name what!!! people are working, 5days week-end is not funny for people working 70 hours /week for almoust nothing...Cone form large houses, the one of the 10 poorest country on the world, from 2002 gained the independency with help of US. But the whole infrastructure distroyed and houses too and people refugiated in the mountains..3 from 4 family no electricity, 1/2 of population no access to the water cotton production (when a doughter is born they say that other hands for *tais*are for help... )they have also oil and natural gaz in Timor Sea, and a woman said like..we are poor but not unhappy...well interesting compared with Taiwan childrens which from K5 26.4% childrens think to loose life..what is missing generaly spoken, that phenomen with childrens is largely than we would like to accept available as statistiks..well exist a way to cut in once with all that shadows and let in the people the pure gold of they*re best of people than it*ll be not necessary to invest socially in soo much drugs dependency, alcohol, unemployement , hospital costs as results of using alcohol to name just traffic troubles statistics, guns in houses isolating and fears and loosing the trust in people arround
you know Mr. Trump,
the person*s I*ve meet in some trips, where honest and make the day different plain and simple! with a hello, with the smile &communicate!
Each time seeing poor people at Tv no shoes, food, clothes , could nights and childrens with legs deformed by water nonquality, well as much China is producing affect thegood quality of the water resources
more than 300millions people did*t have acces to water for drink, perhaps that*s why they invest in the huge projects of water as trying to transport from south to the north , or that large spillway so controversial as investition even for World Bank as attacks from ecology party*s..
that the new Fairy taxes from december 2006 looks starnge with they*re 26% , Mr. Trump, something must change as Isaia said once:Re create
again on new foundation.
Is soo much work to do and the real sustainment
thank you for the time and attention,
Daniela

Not all problems can be solved with just a positive attitude but it can help a lot. Don't know about onions, but if you have a problem with keeping emotions bottled up, crying is also therapeutic.

My whole life I battled with depression and anxiety- since shortly after this incident when I was 6 years old. One day in a fit of exasperation, my father picked me up and threw me 20 feet toward a second story window. By the grace of God, I was able to learn to swim through the air and turned my trajectory just enough to miss the window. After that attack, I tried to go live with my grandmother, but that hurt my mother too much, so I forgot the attack and went on with life. After that, I forgot all the negative things. Everything that I stuffed was a little piece of myself- as I forgot more and more- there was less and less of my personality- until one day people told me that I looked like a war victim. I grew up alive but was dead inside.
When I turned 35, I learned this technique called an anger workout and began reliving all the negative parts of my life, this time experiencing all the emotion and unlocking the pieces of myself that had been held prisoner. This was a good process. Even so, there were chemical processes in my brain that had been prodcued through years of trauma- so something had to be done to change the chemistry. Psychotropic medication worked well, but for me the answer was 2 teaspoons of cod liver oil per day. Once I started that regimen, there was no more depression, no more social anxiety, no more panic attacks.
Two years ago, there were factions at work. It bothered me to have people thinking negative things about me. That was when I started to remember all the famous people that I had met- who had sought out my company and that helped. Then I reflected on the fact that I had met two billionirres before they were billionairres and wondered about the probability of that happening by chance- pretty remote unless something that I had done had helped them become billionairres. I remembered my conversation with Donald Trump back in the winter of ’81-’82 and how I had explained that the only thing that any ordinary person knew about a building was the name on the building. I explained that my image of the Prudential company was forever changed by the appearance of the Prudential Tower in Boston- and I said that if he had buildings like that and had the power to choose a name, that he should put his name on a building. The next year, he dedicated Trump Tower and I think that my conversation might have helped him to become a billionairre. My pediatrician also credits me with giving her the advice that prompted her husband to go into the HMO business- and since he sold his interest in the company for a billion dollars- that counts also. That realization brought me to Trump University and changed the way I think about my life forever.

You can see yourself as a victim OR you can see yourself as a catalyst for great things happening and seeing the latter makes an enormous difference in your life. Positive thinking makes a great difference. Getting the right chemical balance in your brain makes a great difference. Unlocking the emotions and memory bound in trauma makes a great difference. Spirituality makes a great difference and helps you to discover all of the above. Whatever faces you- do whatever you can to defeat it. Always keep trying and never give up. And whatever works- works. Just do it.

They are all the same,
None of them cry

MR Trump,
I don't know where you find some of the news you comment on, but this one is great!
The crying club is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard of.
Everyday I'm amazed at the number of people trying to find new and inovative ways to make money off of thin air; or, like in this case, taking advantage of unsuspecting people trying to find a solution to their problems.
In the end, what is the real difference between snatching a purse and opening a crying club? Which is more reprehensible?

It is very difficult to shed the negative outlook. When things go good, it does not seem to last--I find it hard to create that outer positive appearance--I do though--but really it is like living a lie. But when Hashem has blessed you (My family is religious Jewish)with so much-5 beautiful children-even at a later age-I am 47, what is it that keeps me down. ? I had 1 opportunity-1 choice as a professional-and chiropractic, although I have helped so many, is too diversed and ridiculed, but as I help so many, it is something I regret so bad. Struggling financially and in BK and trying to pull myself back for my families sake, I just do not know how to promote a business without spending thousands--I am getting tired-something that never happened to me. I want to take my family and run somewhere--but where. I am such a good chiropractor and therapist also. Should I go to the Misery club--and run for president? (a Joke) Maybe a personal coach? Any comments or suggestions?

MISERY LOVE'S THOSE BASICS PERSONALITIES WHICH BRING'S NO COMFORT, YET DESTROY'S LOVE JOY. WITHOUT DOUBT SUCH PEOPLE CREAT'S THE MOST FUNDEMENTAL ASPECT'S OF BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEAR'S!! I BELIEVE D.T. IN THE BLOG STATEMENT. YOU CAN'T MAKE GREAT DECISIONS IN ANGER DEPRESSION OR FEAR. GATHERING INFORMATION AND BRAINSTROMING ONLY SOMETIME'S WORK'S, YET A COMEDIAN STATED THAT IF YOU ONLY HAVE ONE HATER; GO OUT AND FIND MORE BECAUSE ONE JUST ISN'T ENOUGH. ASSERTIVENESS INVOLVE THOSE VERY BALANCES STREET'S VS. AVENUE'S OR FIRST'S FLOOR VS PENTHOUSE LEVEL VIEW'S OF PINE TREE'S, LIKE LAKE TAHOE OR ASK THE QUESTION WHEN YOU OBSERVE A TREE CAN YOU SEE THE ROOT'S; YOU CAN'T OF COURSE,YET YOU KNOW WITHOUT DOUBT THAT A TREE HAS TO HAVE THEM!!!! P.S. I'VE BEEN ON A VACATION WITHIN MY HOLE IN THE WALL; MUCH LOVE D.T. PEACE OUT

In my opinion, I think human beings are negative creatures by nature.... And they need a positive environment to pump them every time...

I remember in my previous business startup, I have to keep meeting my partners and pump them with positive thoughts and confidence... As long as I don't meet them for just 1 day, I can see how bad the situation can become... And they just sit there and wait for me to solve... What's the problem man! I won't want to work with such people!

Business is all about problems, and we are supposed to come up with solutions! People have problem with their life, that's why they are engaging our service to solve their problem... In my industry, we are helping to deliver their goods which they have problems having them delivered due to lack of vehicle, manpower, business cashflow problem, etc... That's what business is all about...

Business = Solving Problems!

If we have more problems in business, we have more money to make! Sometimes, the problem may be too huge for us to handle, but if we increase our position and see them as small problem, we can still solve them as part of our everyday problems!

In the past, I never realise I was a negative person in a special way... When I was faced with a problem, I will tend to think of even more questions "What if"... And when my friends come up with solutions, I still think of even more "What ifs"! And in the end, my friend just told me three words "Just Do It!"... Luckily I heeded his advice and do it... I realise the questions I raised wasn't a problem after all! Now, I am one who will keep doubting myself if I found myself focusing on a negative direction which is not what I want... When a problem came, I think of a solution and solve it... Be it temporarily or permanently... Expect more problems to come, so I am readily armed with even more "solution bullets" to solve them! That was a good experience I had... It was in the days when I was doing sales job...

I must thank my friend who recommended me to read more about those business books... One of them actually recommended me to work on a sales job for other people before embarking on my own... I did it just that...

They are not all miserable either by the way. The people who are extremely successful at it are the ones you don't see hanging around those clubs too much. Those are the kind that make it to the Top like me. I'm on my way from misery to happiness today.....................

If you add a little luck to lots of hard work, now there, that one will pay off fin great dividends for sure.

I believe Mr.Trump wants to make simple for everything. The real is, not all problems can solve with simple way. Mr.Trump, what do you think if some tribe in US manipulate the US system? I know it is impossible if this is happen in US.I only give you the picture in my country. In past period, the Chinese people got the highest privilege to run the economics in my country. The Chinese people very easy to get store space, the Chinese people very easy to make business, the Chinese people very easy to get credit banks. Then what happen? The Chinese people got credit from local banks, move abroad and save the money in foreign banks in abroad. The Chinese people's reason because they felt not secure life in my country. The stupidity also with some birocracy in my country, they accept bribe of Chinese people. Now, my country have a deepest debt almost US$ 950,000,000,000,000,000 (Nine hundred and fifty trillion US Dollars). And current situation, many foreign entrepreneur come to my country with ideas (they said it is good for my country! Actually, it is very nice to steal things from my country!). My people currently not excite anymore with new ideas from foreigners because it only creates more debt! Stop to blame that my people are lazy to do things! Stop playing silly game with my people! If there is blogger from World Bank or any foreign banks, for God sake, I ask you to block money of Chinese people who lives in abroad. Or never give them a privilege in foreign country. No matter how difficult life is, I agree with LIVING IN FAIRNESS! Also, my comment to Chinese people, STOP TO STEAL THING FROM MY COUNTRY! Do everything with proper way! It is our challenge to live with many obstacles, the important thing, think the best way for people!
Mr.Trump, think what I said! I understand that you want people getting better in their life thorugh get business from your colleagues or learn from your university. I hope you also take a side to mass people. Life is not so simple, life is complex currently. It is our respons ability to make it simple.
I put my hands on my chest and say "THANK YOU TO READ MY MESSAGE, Mr.Trump and all bloggers!"

hey mr trump lets start a mans man club and when they feel the need to cry will tell them not to be a sissy and man up!(or woman up!) I have always felt crying is illogical. it is self serving and solves nothing. so in our club we can teach people how to stand and be strong and confident instead of recoiling onto the fetal position with a tissue. I think america needs more strong positive role models anyway. this metrosexual/ emo trend of whining is getting tiresome.

I have a little test:

Think about the word SMILE.

Are you smiling?

Negativity breads negativity and so does positive behavior. Choice is wonderful. SMILE.

Now just look at that - another business opportunity! Now you know what to do with any empty apartments you have. Just start a new club. Lets see....a whiners club....a winners club....a criers club...how about belly laughers? You're only as limited as your imagination. I bet you could charge by the hour!
