When it comes to work, Americans sure know how to do it.
According to a recently released report by the United Nations, the United States leads the world in labor productivity. Somehow, that news surprised me.
But according to the report, American workers stay longer in the office, at the factory, or on the farm than workers in Europe and most other wealthy nations. And American workers produce more per person annually than everybody else.
The average American worker produces $63,885 of wealth per year, more than workers in all other countries. They also get more work done per hour than everyone but the Norwegians.
I’m definitely surprised. We seem to have lost the work ethic that has kept this country strong. But I certainly love to see America on top.

I think the study is irrelevant for the rest of the world. Wealthy nations are importing labor force from the other countries. For example in London most of the public services jobs are occupied by foreign people (Indians, Pakistanis, Romanians, Africans).
Yes we are proud of America but also there are a lot of foreigners who work like crazy to make some money, so... Anyway here in Romania the productivity is very low so i think I should congratulate the US for being able to impose an efficient system, a successful system.
I personally don't like Americans, I consider them uneducated and lazy but because of their efficiency they are the best. So: CONGRATULATIONS.
If this the case why do we the huge financial mess we are coming into the possbile recession. Now the foreigners want a piece of the action real estate etc.
We all working. Now my company who on of the largest property management companys, just listed that we are in a credit crunch in the retail.
Internally there has to be a drastic change in America.
The same agenda and response to the problem is not working and not happening fast enough. The stubborn ways of yesterday is hurting our future growing power. We have all the resources.
What is the internal change we need today Mister Trump.
I love the American nation and generosity of Americans toward the world is because of the hard work Americans do.
The world must be proud for having America!

I'm not surprised. I'm not one for generalizations, so I'll simply share that many of the people I know and love live these ethics.
Despite the fact that Americans are characterized as overconfident, feeling entitled, unrealistic in our expectations of the workplace, change oriented, questioning of authority, and irreverent, many of us hold in high esteem integrity, honesty, honor, respect, and ethics/morals, and we're still very ambitious, disciplined, hard-working, driven, dedicated, willing to sacrifice, able to conform if we have to, and have a respect for authority.
We feel more productive and creative than at any other time in our lives, and our ideas, creativity, energy, optimism, experience, maturity, and patience still guide us.
One thing I learned in working with students from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakstan, and Turkmenistan, is that making so much money in oil has affected the cultural attitude toward work in that region. Those students arrived with the belief that only stupid people work hard, and physical labor is beneath them. Only poor people work more than one job. A smart person doesn't have to work, but gets an important title and gets paid for doing nothing from the oil companies. Of course they were youth, not in the actual work force yet.
In America, intelligent people contribute. Laziness is stupid, and it is not a trait that is admired. I love to work, but I want work that shows results and lasts.
