Don't Be Scared on Halloween - Or Any Other Day

When you turn on your TV this week, you're going to find lots of scary movies. When you travel around your  neighborhood, you'll find cobwebs, skulls and lots of other decorations designed to give you those fun goosebumps that go with the holiday.

Yes, it's fun to scared on Halloween. But let me ask you a more serious question . . .

Are you scared during the rest of the year too?

When you go to work, are you scared that you might get fired? Are you scared of your boss? Or scared that a crooked colleague of yours is going to steal your ideas? Are you scared that you aren't earning enough to pay your bills or retire comfortably? Are you scared that you will never earn enough, or save enough, to live your life the way you want to?

Well, let me tell you something. I was like that for many years. Then, nearly two decades ago, I started my own company and now I am not scared any more.

I did that at a time when Trump University did not yet exist, so I did not have all the advantages that you do. Advantages like the Trump University courses The Art of Buying a Business or  The Entrepreneurship Mastery Program.

On Halloween afternoon, I will close my office and go stand on my front porch to give candy to all those kids who come by in their great costumes. I'll enjoy some neighborly talk with their parents too. I've got that flexibility in my life. And if you take the right steps today, you can have it too.

My mantra to all of those I mentor is: Take risks and make all of your mistakes now. That way, you can experience and learn from your mistakes earlier in life. I am a life-long risktaker. I had high goals and achieved them. However, now, when making mistakes and failures (bankruptcy was one of them' divorce and 3-times job loss), I felt that it took me longer to overcome. When you have two kids ready for college and still feeling like retirement is a long road ahead -- well, let's just say keeping a focus on determination is challenging!

Yes, you do have flexibility only how do you walk through the dark hole on campus at semilnoles FSU or is IT at UG in Gainesville Gators.

I read this blog on January 30th, 2008. The funny thing is, I was never afraid of (most) anything until I recently started thinking about my talents( in Art )as a business. I
am so passionate about creating unique and imaginative art that I hand-painted a pair of worn sneakers that most people would have retired to the garbage. I was sitting on the train headed for NYC and a woman sat down next to me. We started talking and she told me the only reason why she sat next to me was because she loved my shoes. I was surprised. I was afraid people would make fun of me because they were so different. I attended an Expo that morning at Jacob Javitts Center and the same thing happened. People I never met before walked up to me and started talking about my shoes. I left there, and went to Trump Towers to try a now famous DT Burger. The most amazing thing happened. In less than a half hour I was photographed with Donald Trump, George Ross, Chris Divine ( a great guy and inspiring Chef) and Luca ( the best bartender ) who introduced me to Trump Vodka in a Bloodymary instead of Grey Goose. It was a great experience and I still have the pictures to remember what following your instincts can do to overcome fear.
P.S. Since then, 100's of people told me I should market my shoes. I need a licensing attorney first.
