Call for course information
Just one year ago, Scott and Jalisa Schafer were planning to become entrepreneurs. Knowing they needed guidance to make the right business investment, they selected The Art of Buying a Business, a premier course developed by Professor Richard Parker for Trump University.
“Trump stands for quality,” Scott explains. “It is one of the best brands out there. We knew we would get information we could trust to succeed.”
They found the resources in The Art of Buying a Business to be top-notch - particularly, they say, the Buyer Toolbox part of the course, which clearly explained what to do when researching a business - and more importantly, what not to do.
And then they did something else. They bought a business of their own.
3,000 Opportunities . . . Just One Acquisition!
“One of the key elements in buying a business is your broker,” Scott explains. “The right broker will save you a lot of money. A bad broker will look out for the benefit of the seller, which means more money for them! But if you get the right broker, you can get a great deal. If we didn’t take this course and really investigate the broker, we could have lost a lot of money.”
Scott and Jalisa actually amassed a list of over 3,000 businesses to review for possible purchase. Even when they narrowed that list down to 25 businesses, it still took several months to analyze each of them in depth.
But September 26, 2007 was the day it all came together - Scott and Jalisa acquired a commercial Christmas decorating company called Deck the Malls. When discussing the decision to purchase this business, Scott explains that the business will enable them to do the kind of work that is near and dear to their hearts.
“My wife loves Christmas,” he explains. “Plus, during the remainder of the year, we will work on maintaining and getting new clients. In our first year, we are expecting over $300,000 in profit.”
The seller was so impressed with the Schafers’ business acumen that he ensured the transition of clients to the Schafers and even prospected for new customers while he was negotiating with them.
After Thanksgiving dinner, the Schafers got down to work, decorating malls in Arizona, including the famed Mill Avenue in Tempe. Decorating the interiors and exteriors of 155 malls was no small undertaking! Yet the Schafers were able to work with secured contract laborers - a factor that they arranged during negotiations - to ensure a successful outcome.
We are proud that Trump University was there to help them launch this exciting new phase of their lives. A holiday success story is the best success story of all.

The art of negotiations was worked out before...they invested. To purchase with contracts and structured a great deal. Keep up the good work! And we loved your Christmas images of your business work-per your website! That does take a lot of hard work to put up those decorations and to take them all down. But worth it!
In reality, the Christmas season is short... Are you working on any other Holiday service for decorations?
I have a home for sale I Hollywood, Florida. I am minutes from the Trump Towers and Hallandale Beach Blvd. I have tried several realtors, auctions For Sale By Owner and diferrent strategies etc.. and I am not able to sell. I have lowed the price have been told, my pricing is at affordable. ($250.00 3 bedroom, 2 baths)
I am an Elementary School teacher in the school systems, What suggestions do you have for those of us caught in the market, not able to sell? I had already moved to another state, I had to come back to live in the house because the buyers in my area are not buying.
The house in good condition and everything work. it could be a good showcase piece, a students can use their creativity to sell the house as a project,
Would it be possible for the Trump University to use my home for a project to sell as an internship project. The commission proceeds could go towards a cause for the university.
The house is in good condition, students could perhaps stage it and make the sale possible.
I am using creativity right now, and hope you could make this possible to have your students use my house as a project, to help me sell, The market is dry right now.....
I Thank you in advance for listening and am looking foward to hearing from you soon.

As your business grows, more lights, ornaments etc. will make up a large part of your budget.
Labor is also s concern (especially in the slower months) and part-time help(Seasonal Employment) is difficult to keep because it doesn't provide enough income to support the living expenses of many workers.
Networking with other similar businesses in different states can help keep you informed about the "hidden expenses" that every small business incurs.
You launched your business at a very busy time. Will you have what it takes to grow your business in June or July?
Are you manufacturing products or selling any on the internet to increase your cash flow?
There are so many "little things" to consider if you want your business to grow and thrive. These concerns are there long after the Christmas decorations are taken down and packed away.
Keep in touch, and let the students at Trump University know how the two of you are doing.
I wish you the BEST.
To Your Success,
