Stefanie Schaeffer Comments on Episode One of Celebrity Apprentice

Blog Image

Stefanie Schaeffer, last season’s Apprentice winner on NBC, offers her take on the first episode of Celebrity Apprentice in this exclusive commentary on today’s Trump Blog.

Overall, I thought week one was entertaining and it's clear there will be fireworks throughout. The only shrinking violet in the group has already been fired. In this game, it's eat or be eaten and Tiffany, though beautiful, just lacked the fire.

Mr. Trump is all about being bigger than life and wants to be surrounded by people of the same ilk. Omarosa and Carol Alt both defended themselves, Tiff just didn't. Oh well, lesson learned I guess.

The lesson for this week was "If you don't work your network, you just won't work."

Tiff, a playmate, failed to contact Hugh Hefner?  Why?  Beyond that, was Omarosa really serious when she advised her team not to focus on celebrity and to focus instead on pure sales ability????  It's only because Tiff was so quiet that Omarosa is still around. Are you kidding me? It's a hot dog! It sells itself and that wasn't even the point. The whole premise is to raise money for charity and who better to exploit that quest than celebrities?

The women really failed to use their beauty to create a spectacle and didn't work their network. It's been my experience that Mr. Trump is not pleased when people fail to be resourceful.

Hats off to the men! Good job, Gene, for calling in the favors. It goes without saying that he is a shrewd businessman. The men were organized and seemed to be working as a cohesive team while the women were busy bickering. Better luck next time, ladies.

I'm looking forward to next week and to seeing why Ivanka takes Gene's head off.

Stefani Schaeffer, winner of NBC's 2007 The Apprentice, graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a double major in English and psychology and a minor in communications. She then went on to attend the prestigious Scale Program at Southwestern University School Of Law, from which she graduated in just two years, one year ahead of schedule. She began her career as a trial lawyer defending large California real estate developers in construction defect litigation. A standout on The Apprentice, Stefanie showed all the intelligence and toughness to overcome every obstacle and finally hear Mr. Trump say, “Stefanie, you’re hired!” She is currently working for the Trump Organization overseeing construction and development of the Cap Cana project in the Dominican Republic and as the head of sales and marketing for Trump International Hotel and Tower in Las Vegas.

As a former Pro hockey coach, I have to disagree with cutting Tiffany.

It was Omarosa, the acting lead/coach who was responsible for getting the Best out of her players. In Pro sports, the coach or lead is always ultimatly responsible for his/her team's performance. That is why the coach is always the first to get fired by the team owner.

Omarosa's inspiration tactic's is 'old school' intimidation. Omarosa's best feature is her catty behavior which only causes her players to despise her and work less for her. The purpose of a leader is to coach and inspire their players to greatness. The mark of a great leader is to utilize whoever they have and come out 'number one'. Think about how a dogsled driver knows how to get all the players in maximum sync to drive to the goal.

These macho men came out, guns blazing! They had a 'take no prisoners' attitude, which is what you need to win in competition. They pulled out all the stops.

Plus they had an added incentive: Boys won't accept losing to the girls, hockey or hot dogs!

To us...The losing team just had very poor strategy and very poor vision? The team leader was not a team player. To open the door and listen to hear teamates! And her teamates were upset.

As the saying goes "money talks and...... walks." The women saw the vision too late in their strategy and even missed a grand apperance by a playboy star! Sex sells and no one even suggested to make that special apperance...and even the chosen outfits; just did not make any sense. To fit their branding. The men were busy making the deals!

Bad strategy or bad team advice? Interesting what would happen if a team victory was on a level playing field. Money sponsors could develop a level playing field.

Not bad of a show...for celebritys!

I missed the 1st show. Good to hear a quick little overview.

I agree. You have to work your network. It's hard to do. Plus it is hard to NOT come off as if you are pushy or contact your people in your network too much to the point that they don't want to talk to you.

Good luck with your work in DR and Vegas. I maybe coming to Vegas soon, so I may need some help from my network to check out Vegas.

I agree with the hockey coach, Stefanie...but, there is another thing to take into consideration with Celebrity Apprentice, and that is "RATINGS!" Like it or not, Omarosa couldn't be kicked off the first go-round because she is too controversial and such a ****! I urged others to watch the show for the first time, and their number one beef was, "That Omarosa chick is just awful, so ugly." So, for the first few episodes, people might want to see just how far she will go with her "know-it-all" intimidation factor attitude, but she's such a turn-off! If she wins, I will stop reading The Trump Blog, altogether. I don't think that someone should win, simply based on their attention-grabbing personality, manipulative behavior and cunning. I feel that the winner should possess that quality of humanity. Stefanie, you proved that you could win and still maintain your likability status. I didn't see you throwing others under the bus just to get ahead. In fact, when it was over, you showed that it is possible to be business savvy and nice at the same time.
I think that everyone is being a little hard on Tiffany...a little jealous, maybe? She was a bit out of her element, as she is probably not used to people attacking her like that...or, maybe she is. You could see that she was a little shy about using her contact, Hugh Hefner. You have to understand that the business practice of asking people for huge amounts of money is not the norm for most people. She probably felt that it would be rude to ask...not wanting to disrespect Mr. Hefner. So, now she knows. She had a lovely attitude in the end...and didn't cry...I've seen others cry when they're fired from The Apprentice. Omarosa just looked like an envious Cruella Deville-like character with her biting comments and that horrible outfit and weird hair...she's trying too hard to appear ****ier than she is. I think Tiffany handled herself very well under the circumstances.
Please fire that witch soon! Please! She's boring and very predictable.

Women in business can learn a lot from You.
I like Your presentation in last season, elegant.

About episode: when it comes to ''brainstorming'', it 's always good to pull some joke to relax people. Ideas come from open mind and relax emotions. Every idea is very welcome in the proces. But, as a leader of group, when it comes to decision, You have to be tough and serious and determined.

To much is being made of Tiffany not calling Hef for a fat donation. As I recall, the only female that reached out to anyone was Marylou Henner, who sold the two bottles of water for $5000.00 each. Carol lives in New York, and I'm sure she has one FAT rolodex of contacts. Did she make any calls? Evidently not.

With the drubbing the men gave the women, Omarosa should have been the one to go. I hope she continues to "step up" and volunteer to be the project leader. With her in charge, In 6 weeks it will be an all men show. (Although, the previews seem to indicate that Gene will be the next one out.)

Hi Albert,
Those are excellent insights. Thanks. Do you think that women are as competitive as men? Maybe a more interesting question is, are women more competitive, toe-to-toe, than they were a few decades ago? Of course, they have more opportunities to be. Just look at Hillary Clinton's performance in the New Hampshire primary yesterday. Barry Lenson, Executive Editor, Trump University

Thank you all for your comments. After Episode Two airs tonight, former Apprentice contender Kelly Perdew will be posting his commentary about it on this blog. Please stay tuned.

Omarossa told them not to use their celebrity and that was agreed to (which was a mistake). It was absurd to blame Tiffany for not using it when that wasn't the agreed to strategy. As the Team leader Omarossa could have told Tiffany and the others to use their contacts (like Hef) and tried to find out why they weren't. At least the subset of the action shown indicated that Marilu was the one who rebelled and did the right thing, and shouldn't have needed to rebel. Omarossa was making obviously stupid comments.. and I suspect the ratings of the show are hurt not helped by how much having her on there and not firing her does to the credibility of the show.

I'm in the world of tech biz where substance matters more than style (except where style is an appropriate business consideration eg re: sales person or product design) which is perhaps why I hadn't watched Apprentice after the first couple of seasons where it there were too many stupid mistakes made by the teams and Trump, obvious to sharp biz folks I know, backwards superficially made management choices making its obvious that Trump is successful since he is in non state of the art industries where style and schmoozing and game playing can win out.. though wait a decade or two and the net is going to drastically change how business is done in ways most people have no clue about yet (I've been right on the money for the last two decades years in advance of trends..). People learning backwards ways of doing business will begin loosing out.. I'm not sure how they choose the candidates who make in the air, three quarters of them I wouldn't hire for anything, and some of the better ones get fired for clueless reasons).

The firing *must* have been done for entertainment purposes since I doubt Trump et al are the complete idiots they would have to be to keep an absurdly bad manager like Omarossa around. Then again,

Hi Barry,
I believe women CAN be even more competitive than men. My most vivid example of this was back in the 80s in Pasadena, I had the privilege of coaching one of your past contestants, Angela Ruggerio as a youth hockey player.

Her dad used to bring her brother, a hockey goalie to our group practice every Monday night. The dad was intent on seeing his son become a hockey star. Upon seeing her brother getting all the 'thunder' of dad's attention, Angela suited up and got on the ice with 50-60 boys. Her desire to impress her dad eventually turned into her outdoing all the boys in every hockey drill. This group practice was a collection of the best and most passionate hockey players in California. These boys did not like being outshined by a girl.

I was amazed at what this girl was doing. She was on a mission to become a tough hockey competitor. One day before practice I walked in the locker room where the kids were putting on their skates. Angela stormed out past me. One of the players was laying on the floor shaking his head.I asked the other kids what happened. My son said his friend had insulted Angela, so she punched him in the face and knocked him on his back. The kid on the floor started complaining about this girl punching him. I told him to be careful what you say to the girls. You never know what they can do to you.

A few years later, Angela would be rated the toughest female hockey player in the world and would lead Team USA to many medals.

I saw Angela when was fired from the Apprentice. I thought she just wasn't utilized to her potential by the leaders. A coach has to know all their players strengths and use them in the most strategic way.
Some people are coaches/leaders and some people are players/solders.
I'd put Angela on my team anytime. She's awesome.

I am a BIG Hillary Clinton fan. She is one tough lady. I saw the way she handled Obama in the debates. She is on a mission like Angela was. Hillary is in a all boys club and nobody is going to give her any free pass. She wants to show her ole man 'Bill' and the rest of these boys how the White House and this country needs to be run.

She has the experience, the fire and the heart to fix the economy, our social ills and maybe, just maybe, change the worlds negative view of America, which might foster some peace.
America mothering the world. What a concept! I think we are due.
Case in point: My mother kicked ass.You didn't want to mess with her.
