Federal Chairman Bernanke Speaks about the Obvious

Today I got to hear Fed Reserve chairman Bernanke tell Congress the hard truth about our economy and the direction things could be heading. With GNP being virtually flat and consumer confidence at tremendously low levels, that lovely 3 syllable word called “recession” was uttered as a distinct possibility as to what could be in store. The definition of a recession is two or more consecutive quarters of zero to negative economic growth and I think we just banked the first one.

Bernanke further explained that until the effects of the economic stimulus package could be felt and measured, we could possibly have a second quarter commensurate with the first. On a positive note, he thinks the government’s approach to intervention of a recession should prove effective by later in this year. The tax rebates, in addition to the slashing of interest rates and a generous multi-billion dollar gift to the banking industry, should produce the kind of measured results the Fed is hoping for. Mr. Bernanke spoke of a moderation of the skyrocketing oil prices and therefore keeping fuel prices and food transports at a steady level. He wouldn’t comment on the possibility of another rate cut later this April.

What I didn’t hear was how we were going to have to pay for this later. We are adding to an already seemingly insurmountable budget deficit. Where is all of this money going to come from? If we had all of this extra money lying around, perhaps we should have returned it back to the American people a long time ago or applied it to our massive and growing debt. Would that have prevented some of the problems we are now facing?

One thing is clear about our economy we can’t simply sit back and pretend blue skies will always return. As Mr. Trump would tell you now is not the time to convert all your assets to cash and head for the hills, however, it may be time to make some adjustments. Such as starting to invest in real estate, with hard work and creativity some of the best deals ever are available right now. Perhaps now is the time to really start working on that great entrepreneurial initiative you have been kicking around in your head for a while.

My question is what are you doing to prepare for what we must call uncertain times? How are you improving your knowledge, position and budget to take advantage of what will be a hard time for some and an opportunity for others? Do you see opportunity or do you see tough times? Remember perception is reality.

We do agree...that perception can be reality. Is the government really helping? The tax stimulas is great. However, we do feel the American people earned that one. However, we think that stimulas will be used o catch up on bills and past debt, not too mention the gas prices. This situation should never happen and avoidable.

What about helping the new tech. inventions for the gas crisis? Not just short term, but long term. Or how about helping other nations with the USA on free trade. Help the econony short and long terms. Are they really helping?

It can be a great time to purchase assests. Hard cash with the possibility with no quick or easy returns. Be stable enough to strengthen your positions.

"If we had all of this extra money lying around, perhaps we should have returned it back to the American people a long time ago or applied it to our massive and growing debt."

Geniunely I owe nothing, I own nothing, and I am free ?
Trapped in the shackles of this sentence I think not.

What money is this I owe to Americans ?

With provisions of sustainable employment then Americans can boost to success and fortitude, until then I see a lot of unemployed people over there and everywhere, and the bottom line -- if jobs should meet with a modicum of success, - what fun your fired ?

Self defeating encouragement on how to foster success.

While I'm saving enough money to actually invest in real estate, I thought of this magnificent idea! I could work as a caretaker for people who already have a lot of real estate properties that must be maintained because they are unable to spend time at those properties. I know, real estate agents often take on that role, but they can't possibly act as the dedicated overseer and point person that I would be.

Whattya say, Donald? You probably have a couple of choice properties in Palm Beach Co. that need this type of special attention. (I'm just around the corner) I know... what are you going to tell me... you have to have a degree in this and a certification in that, and a law degree. What's that? You have to be an Apprentice winner to house-sit? Wow!

Okay, with that being the criteria, I wouldn't qualify...obviously. But, just to be a contestant on The Apprentice, you already have to be successful in business. I'm still working on that. So, what if you did a "The Intern Apprentice"...or, Apprentice with a handicap? Is that too much like Oprah's Big Give? Seems like her show is somewhat like The Apprentice...I saw many shades of The Apprentice when I saw "Big Give."

You're willing to make a hooker rich, who's already loaded... why not give a regular person a shot to do something big...based on the lessons that I've learned from attending Trump U and watching The Apprentice?

Hey, it never hurts to ask...you don't ask, you don't get! And, if you're thinking that I must be completely mental... just laugh! Levity is such a stress reliever, isn't it?

Call me! I would be the best caretaker you've ever had! 772-626-9498. I have references. Note to webmaster: you'll obviously have to black out the phone number. I think it's funny! And, novel, you must admit.

Touche! You printed my number, and that's cool! My thoughts about that: the chances of really stupid or creepy people frequenting this blog are pretty slim. So, the fact that you actually published my number is a good thing. Hey, you never know, perhaps, someone will hire me! I don't see anyone else trying this, so it is a bit creative. I know that a lot of people might be worried about unseemly characters calling them. It's pretty simple. If I don't want to speak to them...I won't. What are they going to do? Track me down and stalk me? Good luck! I have back-up. I'm not worried about it. I'm a writer, so I can always use a good weirdo in a story. On second thought, I've done enough research on every type of psycho imaginable. So, please, if you're a sociopath and think that I'm an easy mark, don't bother calling me. Thank you.

You would think that only the most astute of people would attend Trump U. One would think... However, so far, the only call that I've gotten was from a scam-artist with a business that is meant to reduce identity theft; and you sign up, create your own website, work from home, and bake cakes or something. I couldn't really understand what he was promoting because he was talking too fast and a lot of jibberish, then the message cut off before I could get the website address...not that I would have looked at it...maybe just to report him to the Feds.

In any event, you have my number, Mr. Trump. Call me! I like that better than e-mail, also. Hey, you're the one who said that one should not be afraid to be a bit audacious...put yourself out there. Even though I have tried to apply other lessons to my life that you have taught, and have failed miserably, I'm not going to quit. Something will hit! I'll never quit! I'm ready to win! I'm not worried about the nay-sayers anymore. They can go commiserate in a cave somewhere.

Uncertain times? Hmmm. I guess my life experience has enforced the idea that the only thing that is truly certain is this very moment. Yesterday, no longer exists, and tomorrow may not even come. It is this moment that may lead me to the next, and what I am doing is learning everything I can, here at my computer, at this moment. I am surviving. I am learning to thrive. Plans are great, but its the choices I make each moment that are going to determine tomorrow. I can't control external forces, but I can direct my thougts and actions. That is my certainty.
