It's Who You Know - Leveraging Strategic Partnerships & Networking Groups

Today I would like to talk about strategic partnerships and networking as it pertains to attracting new clients especially in real estate. No matter what your business, you can broaden your market visibility and attract more clients by getting out of your offices and getting proactive.

You should identify which organizations your best potential clients belong to, then JOIN and PARTICIPATE.   Be an active member of the “association” and utilize the member roster to make new contacts. It’s important take on leadership roles or get on committee’s as soon as possible to show those prospects you are serious about their cause. There are usually sponsorship opportunities there as well. Nothing shows you care more than your willingness to sponsor an event for them. When doing this, don’t just write a check and get settle for small signage recognition. Be creative and figure out a way get the MOST bang for your buck. For instance, if it’s a golf tournament...don’t just shell out a couple of hundred for a sign at a hole.   Make your spot an interactive, creative and fun opportunity to make some great first impressions with people. A fun little contest that enables you to collect the player’s info and gain rapport is much more effective.

The same is true for networking groups. If you can locate a local networking group in your area, you will be in a great situation to be the only one of your industry allowed to be a member. These groups will meet once or twice a month for an early breakfast generally and won’t take much time out of your workday. If you can’t find one, start your own! It’s a perfect opportunity to establish the type of group catered to your specific needs or industry. You can figure out what ancillary businesses your target clients need and design your group around those companies marketing reps. It’s a brilliant way to establish your leadership role in your industry and get a lot of business referrals.

Brett nice article. Sponsorships and networking groups are two great ways to attract potential future business. Having been a Realtor for 22 years myself networking has helped tremendously.

In many communities there are real estate investing groups you can join.

Even if you're not an "expert" and don't feel you can come across as an authority you can still learn a lot from veterans and like Brett said, it's great for networking.

The only thing is, to do all that, you really have to like it.

That is a great article!

Sponsorships and networking are great and sometimes thinking outside of the box helps to be more creative in gaining a market share of interest. Offer cash prizes and capture a target audience....

Hi
I could not agree more, networking is important in any field where you have to attract new clients. In fact even networking in cyberspace works, I did manage to get a few meetings with potential clients though cyberspace. Of course, it was the right social networking group, aligned to common interests. What is important is not the money which you pour into sponsorships, but in selecting the right target networking group and providing value to that group, be it through sharing of knowledge or otherwise. Sponsorships , even if creative, may or may not always have the impact.Thank you for an interesting article.

Far too many real estate agents are missing out on networking, not just outside the office but also online.
There are countless powerful communities out there on the web providing leads to those who participate.
Sitting on your ass and complaining about a bad economy ... sorry, but I don't feel sorry for you.
When things get tough, stand up and do something you haven't done before.

Yes, what a great reminder. I encourage new real estate investors to check out their local real estate investors association too. So long as you remain mindful of your productivity it is very useful to have contact with other people heading in the same direction as you.

DEAR BRETT
THIS ARTICLE IS SO HELPFUL TO ME, THANK YOU FOR WRITING IT.
MY QUESTION IS HOW TO NETWORK WITH INTERESTS OUT SIDE OF REAL ESTATE? FOR EXAMPLE MR. TRUMP AND BUSINESS MEN LIKE YOURSELF MAY BE EXCITED ABOUT OTHER PROJECTS, BUT IF NOT PRESENTED IN THE CONTEXT OF REAL ESTATE MAY NOT GET HEARD.
I APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE YOU WOULD LIKE TO OFFER.

I READ A QUOTE RECENTLY "PROTOCOL CAN TAKE YOU FURTHER THAN BRILLIANCE".
WHAT IS BUSINESS PROTOCOL IN CONNECTION TO NETWORKING?
THANK YOU,
