Tax Rebate Checks

Did you receive a tax rebate check yet?

The U.S. Treasury began mailing out the checks earlier than expected. Many people had them by late April, but everyone should have them by the end of June.

The purpose of the rebates is to pump more than $100 billion dollars into the U.S. economy. That is, if people spend the money when they get it.

So, if you’re eligible for a check and receive that unexpected windfall of anywhere from $600 to $1,200 or more, what will you do with it. Spend it or save it?

For the economic stimulus plan to work, people must spend the money. If  people save it, it’s not going to help the economy. Yet, in many polls I’ve seen, about one-third of people plan to save the money.

I certainly understand the temptation to hang on to the cash, but that defeats the purpose of the program. Our country’s in bad shape economically and this is supposed to help. I’m not sure if it’s much of a solution when the economy is in such miserable shape. But I guess you do as much as you can with the solutions you’re given.

So get out there and spend at least some of the money, but spend it on important and necessary things. If you don’t spend it frivolously, then everybody wins, at least a little. You and the economy.

Everyone is spending it over the course of the next year, whether they want to or not. The tax rebate checks equals the increase in the cost of gas over the course of the next year. Unless you find a way to make more money, if you spend the tax rebate on anything other than the increase in gas and other prices that will increase as gas prices increase, then you are going into debt or reducing your net worth.

It sure would be nice to just run out and spend some of that
money in order to boost the economy but with consumer confidence
at an all time low becaue of layoffs, the housing market, escalating
fuel and food costs I think we are going to see people trying to hold
on to that money. No one is quite sure what is going to happen in
the days to come. It does not sound like the economic stimulus
plan is going to work. Time to try something else

Well Tax Rebates do certainly sound rewarding..and the first thing that comes to mind is to party!
Yet, I believe, the most reasonable thing to do would be to save it until it becomes a considerable amount that can be used to spend as some "investments", be it in the stock market...or anything you feel like.

Helping the economy... is this an altruistic approach? A perfect businessperson and investor helps oneself before thinking of the contribution to the economy! Helping oneself indirectly becomes helping the economy itself.

Not sure...but what is that a windfall...LOL

Why save...when we are pumping the windfall into the economy with our gas pump.'s..LOL

Of course the so-called "tax rebate" checks are not going to work. Any discussion humoring the idea that they would was wasted time akin to discussing which political party has the better candidate. Even worse, for those who actually do spend their fiat debt-based currency on purchases that they have not yet made (meaning NOT paying bills with them), how likely is it that they will buy something domestic in origin in order to fuel LOCAL economies anyway? In other words, NO, those Japanese big screens built in China are not going to be flying off of the walls of that non-local bigbox.

As many have already figured out, that small "incentive" (for what no one really knows) will do little more than cover the inflated cost of fuel, which brings to discussion the next point- We need retained INDUSTRY, not sleight-of-the-hand gimmicks to keep us occupied while we feed the engines of enemy industry with our dollars. And, yes....I mean Red China. You know, that country that is ramping up her infrastructure, military technology, air power and naval fleet for those unavoidable future conflicts with the country that largely paid for it all - namely "us."

If the best the U.S. government can come up with is to try to shamelessly pander the favor of the American public in an election year by an influx of what amounts to a one time welfare payment for a public strugglling with foreclosure payments, and large debt loads, out of control gas prices, a falling dollar and hence less value for their dollar to purchase foreign goods, to erase a flaundering economy left skittering at the verge of a recession by a government caught napping at the wheel, that is a sad statement and a true lack of vision. That is not taking charge of the US economy and leading it into a future of innovation, resourcefulness, energy independance, and prosperity in a world of countries with a cutting edge competitive mentality and the intense hunger to succeed, and prosper, and indeed even outdo the U.S. at free enterprise. The environmental and climate issues are not being delt with in any way shape or form by this initiative, nor addressed shoddy roads, traffic tie-ups, falling down bridges, and general infrastructural issues. Schools are not being made better by this, nor policing, health costs are not being brought under control, nor aleviated the huge number of people being incarsonated every year. People are not being made more able to tackle the future, if the money is to be primarily spent on say a random assortment of consumer goods rather than their own education and training. It's literally just passing the buck to the American people, and saying spend this minor windfall in a momentary whirlwind of economic delusions, like for some country wide shopping spree at a mall where you end up with a bunch of stuff of temporary, unfocused and undisciplined utility. You feel good for awhile, but the same ole problems remain intact a few months later. Nothing has been truely fixed. It's like employing a temporary pump of short lifespan to try keep the ship from sinking. But when that pump falls, when the one time money influx runs dry, that leaky economic boat remains just as leaky, just as about to sink to the ocean floor in a world intent on making better, sleeker, faster, more innovatively elegant, highly sea worthy, economic ships of the future.

First of all, I can“t believe that I'm writing in Donald Trump's blog! It's awesome! My name is Magali, I'm from Argentina and I`m 16 years old. I strongly believe that if we spend the money on unworthy staff, it`s useless. However, if you spend all the money that you gained, then... where do you get the money for emergency cases?
If we gain 10 dolars, for instance, and we spend only one dolar in food, you can keep the money so as to invest it in the future in something bigger. Isn`t that truth Mister Trump?

I would like to know your opinion, Thanks Maggie!

You're joking, right? I heard you on LARRY KING LIVE, and, you said that you would buy a bar of soap, which is what you could afford if you really felt like it. But, even as financially well off as you are, even you do not pay $600 for a bar of soap. I know that you were just being facetious. Why the sudden change of heart? Or, as I'm guessing, you put it that way just to spark a debate. On LKL, you on the phone, and Robert Kiyosaki on the monitor, thought it was a horrible idea...the whole stimulus check bull!

Plus, it would be interesting to note: How many people who frequent this site, actually make less than $75,000 a year? So many seem to be so, incredibly successful. I'm probably one of the few who is in a "do-over" stage, starting from scratch, again...and, at such a low rate on the earnings scale.

President Bush is heading toward the end of his term, so he's just trying to do things for the history books. Kids will read about it later, and, think, "Wow! He must not have been all that bad...in 2008 he gave everyone $600!" Perhaps he did it in preparation for the inflated oil/gas prices. I guess as long as they leave in the part about how the idea was one of the worst ideas... ever, by a president, then, future generations won't be fooled.

I guess I had better shut up, I haven't gotten my check yet. Just kidding, President Bush! I'm sincerely grateful for every single break that I get. $600 may not seem like a lot to many of the fabulously rich, who spend that much at dinner (I should know, I waited on them, and was grateful for the tips), but that $600 will help me pay off my car by July!

Instead of suggesting that us, poor people, stimulate the economy...why don't all of the rich oil barons get out there start spending more of THEIR dough! Oh, I forgot...they don't have to because they get everything for free, as it is... comped everything...comped dinners...comped golf rounds...comped hotel stays...comped plane fares! What do THEY spend their frickin money on for crying out loud? So, not only do we have to build everything...clean everything...take care of their kids, pick up their garbage, whack their enemies (the troops), pay top dollar for everything because we don't get the VIP discount, blah, blah, blah, blah....now, WE have to be the ones to stimulate THEIR economy. There is something terribly awry with this damn picture! Those big oil CEO's who make $100's of millions of dollars for doing nothing probably just watch the masses and say... "What a bunch of asses! Geeves, bring me another martini, would ya?" They've never been in the position of having to beg, borrow or steal. They do nothing for anyone...yet, they still expect our military to protect them. Just so they know...the military is protecting their country, and, those slimebuckets just happen to live in it. Oh, I know...why don't all of you rich people do something nice for a soldier - at least the decorated soldiers. And, not by having a stinkin charity ball so all of the snobby wives can compare jewels...just do it!

My point is, (if you didn't understand what I'm trying to say), that, even though I am grateful for the $600, it's still a ridiculous idea! They spent millions of dollars sending out notices telling us that we would be receiving our stimulus checks! Who was the brain surgeon who decided on that colossal waste of paper, printing & postage? How stupid! Didn't they borrow the money from China?

I sure hope that there is a method to the government's madness on this one. Maybe this is part of a bigger plan that has not, yet, unfolded. Maybe there were a lot of people who wouldn't have, otherwise, filed their taxes. Did ya ever think about that? Maybe they were looking for

I have a solution for the war... for every day that the troops have to fight this incredibly stupid war, the President and every other oil baron gets taxed. If a President starts an unprovoked war, HE has to fund it... out of HIS oil money! That would get their asses out of there lickity-split! Why do American civilians have to pay for the damn war? There should be regulations...there's only so much money set aside for war...you go over your budget - it comes out of YOUR pocket, Mr. President. That would certainly force Presidents to be more fiscally, and humanely responsible. You don't like it...don't sign up for the job.

That could go for the entire administration, as well as the judiciary, senate, and congress. What ever happened to checks and balances? They don't hold each other accountable for jack! There is a certain amount of funding set aside for military purposes...if that amount is exceeded, then, the President better start calling out favors. Wonder how many "friends" he would have left? Seriously, if they love war so much...why not pay for it? Why are American civilians paying for this crap? If they think it's some kind of sporting event... where innocent people die... pay! Every person making in excess of $1 mil a year, has to adopt a soldier and make certain that he is taken care of when he returns home. And, if he dies, then you have to take care of his immediate family for the rest of your life! Bet there wouldn't be many people dying, now, would there be? (The reason for this, is because rich people don't like to be forced to give their money away. They would raise such holy hell about it, or, have the president assassinated, if they had to get off the cash. They could have their choice...pay for a soldier, or, quit their job on Wall Street, or, step down from their Oil tycoon CEO position...doesn't matter the age... and become one). Bet we wouldn't act hastily...and, we'd stop sticking our guns in other people's business. Bet we would learn how to make friends...and stop forcing people to be like us. Bet we would have a lot more respect for EVERYONE, if the ones who start the damn wars have to pay for it! Bet the United States economy would snap back in a heartbeat if all of the greedy sons-a-****es would stop being such control freaks and just worry about their own families, and, stop worrying about whether or not another poor person might make an extra .50 cents an hour. Bet we could finally repair New Orleans, once and for all, and, now, all of the other places in America that are in desperate need of attention...if our government were actually held accountable for their actions.

They're going to be sorry if they don't change their diabolical ways, and fast... because, guess what...there is a quiet revolution already brewing! It's actually going on, as I write...we're just not doing it by force, in a barbaric manner this time... we're using our BRAINS!

I understand that this is the War on Terror...and, we were attacked on our own soil, and, thus, the preemptive strike...back...but, those weren't the same guys. And, they can't find bin Laden? C'mon! Someone in Egypt could be looking at me right now, on his home PC, thanks to Google Earth...and, they can't find bin Laden? I'm not buyin' it! It just gives me pause to think...didn't these guys ever play Chess or "Who Sunk my Battleship?" I know...there are things that we can't know...classified...topsecret stuff...but, if I'm paying for something, I don't want to be bamboozled! What in the hell is going on? All I know is... it better be good, because it seems awfully fishy right now. I just hope that all of the gaffes were strategic in nature, and, that there is a master plan. Otherwise, I'm going to be livid as hell, and, I will rescind the letter of apology that I had to write to President Bush for behaving in a subversive manner.

Does Mr. Trump really write these blog entries? That doesn't sound, at all, like Donald J. Trump. If a ghost writer actually wrote this blog entry because you think you know Mr. Trump so well, you need to be fired!

Please tell me you were joking, Mr. Trump. If you're not... you might want to get a check-up or something. Just kidding. I don't think you're too crazy about most doctors.

Hey, while I'm here...your name was mentioned on the VIEW today, by some stupid idiot trying to sell a book. I do believe that you could sue him for liable...you might want to contact ABC & have them make a correction on the show, and, in writing. Maybe they should have that author back to apologize. I don't even remember his name, but, he did bring up a very good point about the taxes & fees that we pay on our utilities - including cable t.v. (I don't think we need to read a book about it to know that we're getting shafted). He said you've made 69 or 89 million from casino subsidies that is meant to go to the Indians, or, Native Americans...tribespeople...whatever their calling one of my people these days. What? He seemed a little scam-artsy himself. After all, if he were so altruistic in his endeavor, why not just tell everyone about it for free instead selling a book about it...and injecting YOUR name so the book sells? It's one thing when employees ride your coattails...that's tolerable, to an extent. But, when someone is making false allegations to sell a book? Or, are you making a profit from his book sales? If you're not, you should! It was very disparaging...and, he gave that figure. I want to know where he came up with that figure. How many Indian Casinos have you bankrolled? None, to my knowledge. The book was called FREE LUNCH, or, something like that. Again, I don't remember his name, but, it was probably a fake. Please tell me that YOU'RE not the bad guy. I would be sorely disappointed, and would have to publicly broadcast my stupidity for believing in you.

NOTE: This is an add on comment that I would make as per my previously posted commentary:

BUT.., on the other hand, if rather the U.S. federal governement had an economic incentive plan for giving back money STRESS periodically, I.E. on a regular SET basis (say once every 3,4,5 years..?) " to the people", that might not be a bad idea if it's to be distributed primarily to say all those (including people that don't pay income taxes at all, or very little of it, like the destitute.. ) with an income under a certain threishold, namely those the most affected by economic hardships, and, also, with the least immediately needed remedial recourse available to them. Namely back to all those who could really use a timely, relatively large ($1000 or so) infux of cash for debt relief crunches - like as when bills have have piled up together at one time to create an immediate temporary hole that's needed to swept away to get everything back under doable month to month control-, or for health cost issues, transportation and other living costs like the putting of food on the table, clothing needs, training ops, or biz or concept initiative projects that some would like, alternatively, to begin forging.., etc. . While this influx of buying power would also stimulate the economy by putting this cash out into wide circulation, towards the purchase of goods and services within that immediate time frame. It could be timed to be given at historicaly slow times of the year for the economy like perhaps in the dead of winter months?

P.S.: forgive me the typos found in my previous post, I didn't take enough time to go and check for those before posting that previous comment.

Trump U Bloggers,

There has been something I've learned about success, be it financial or in some other area of life: one of the best tools anyone can use is to model themselves after the successful... every successful person has a success code; the method(s) by which he/she gained that success. If you can break the code, there's no reason why you cannot become that person.

It never hurts to find out how Mr. Trump did it. In such a way, in these bad economic times, I've gained a greater sense of security knowing I'm using the method Mr. Trump uses to find success... his method supercharges my method.

Here's one last comment about success... just as the public made fun of Trump University 3 years ago, but Trump University is still around today. It's still results that matter in life, and there are a lot of people that could make unkind comments about my unorthodox methods.... but I'm still laughing all the way to the bank.

Mr. Trump, I'm a little disappointed. I realize that personally you can't identify with the plight of someone for whom a sudden $600 check is a big deal. No disrespect intended. You've been incredibly successful and are to be commended for it.

But let's put this in a business perspective. If you found out that someone had spent your organization's funds on lavishness when there were more pressing needs to attend to, would you accept "just trying to help out the US economy" as an excuse?

The high price of gas is one part of the crunch. But at its inception this "plan" was supposed to help address the sub-prime mortgage crisis or housing crisis or "War on the Middle Class" or whatever you want to call it. People spending money they shouldn't have, or spending more money than they should have is what gave rise to these problems.

Perhaps I would feel different if this were part of a focused, well thought out plan that had some hope of accomplishing something. It's not. Come September gas prices will still be high, lots of people will still be living in homes and driving cars that they can't afford and I'll still be following the "spend less than you earn" plan. The $600 goes into savings.

Yes, speaking of typos... I believe that is libel, not liable. Duh! I couldn't sleep last night, because I was replaying my comments in my head, and came to that word and thought....oh, no! Bad editing...very, very bad editing.

To the member a few comments above... thanks for the comments about others who laughed about TRUMP U. People laughed at me, too, when I joined. I've learned that people mock a good thing because they're just jealous. Rather than trying to better themselves and find their own success, they would rather ridicule others who have a drive to succeed - it gives them some type of temporary satisfaction to try to break a person's spirit. I used to let it get to me...now, I don't give them the time of day, and the chance to even associate with me if they're going to act like idiots or losers. Eliminate the negative forces in your life...and life certainly becomes a lot sweeter!

Many people I talk to are talking about paying down debt and not spending on new items. People to whom $600 makes a difference will likely use it to pay bills or buy gas. People to whom $600 means little are already spending much more than that.

Rebates when buying a home

If you really want to save money, use a real estate broker that offers a commission rebate when buying a home. A $600,000 home can offer a rebate of $9,000. See Cash Back Realty

The government saw fit to give myself and many others in america a tax rebate in an attempt to stimulate america's floundering economy.

billions of dollars are being sent out electronically and through the mail to responsible americans in hopes that we will together boost the economy with our purchases of big tv's, furniture and other high end merchandise.

I got 600 bucks. which i plan to use to stimulate the economy one day at a time.

600 bucks divided by 365 days comes $1.64383, so I will stimulate the economy a buck64aday.

i am the help the economy never thought it would get

thanks government.

it ain't even a cup of coffee.

here is my story
