You’re probably wondering what I’m talking about when you see that headline. But I’m talking about what’s happening today, now, in the U.S. I say that times are good because there are still plenty of opportunities out there. In fact I’m a little tired of the negative cloud we seem to be under these days.
Difficult doesn’t necessarily mean negative. Challenging doesn’t have to be negative either. There are ups and downs in every aspect of life and business, and as someone who has survived some major financial upheavals and losses, I think I have some insights to share with you about this.
First of all, things usually manage to even themselves out. Real estate is known for having ‘bubbles’, good markets, bad markets, ups, downs, you name it. But many people, including myself, have endured these cycles and still managed to make a lot of money.
What’s the key? Looking for the upside. Looking for the opportunities that are out there no matter what’s going on.
It’s a fact that when I first entered the real estate investing in New York City, the market was terrible. Everyone told me it was the wrong time to get started. Know what? I wanted to go into real estate then and so I did, and look what’s happened. But if I’d listened to those people back in the 1970’s when times were ‘terrible’ I wouldn’t be where I am today. One of my detractors back then, a big New York real estate guy, actually told a friend of mine that “Trump has a great line of s--t, but where are the bricks and mortar?” My answer today is that I am now much bigger in real estate than the other guy. To me, it was a time of great opportunity.
So that’s why I’m saying that times are good. Look at it that way and I’ll bet you’ll find a way to not only survive, but to make a difference.

To improvise, overcome and adapt to the conditions and earn your path.
Which is why it's good to be an open-minded entrepreneur.
I am looking for a great network marketing company w/excellent sales and internet marketing training programs. Does you company offer this?
The recent economic downfalls in the U.S. are being blown far out of proportion (mostly by the media). We're just in another stage of a normal economic cycle. Keep your business diversified, control your expenses and you will surivive...no thrive.

Yes they are, depending on your prespective. Unfortunately, I let my very lucridive business go many years ago. I was not knowledgeable enough at the time (1996) to ride out the down times I was going through both personnally and businesswise. Today, if I knew then what I know now, I would be a very wealthly man. Oh no, Mr. Trump, not as wealthly as you, but being in the oil service industry, wealthy.
Times for my industry have given way to many lucritive innovations. Innovations which need to be infused into the local, national and global economy. I see how times are, as I lay here with herniated discs in my neck due to an injury working for someone else. I hope my worker's compensation check is right this week. I only wish I could stand up long enough (maybe after another neck surgery), to patent, manufacture and sell at least one type of my fuel oil saving products that I invented. One of my devices called the Hot Water Energy Saver has been in use for over 4 years, and has saved me an average of 300 gallons of fuel oil each year. Imagine this potential.
I am excited about todays market. I hope to jump on this band wagon before it leaves town. Yes sir, "Times are Good".
Happy Birthday...!!!!
I am new here from the philippines. I'm lucky if found this site and found that philippines is also a great land of opportunity. AS you say, opporunity is everywhere.
Now, its my sixth month in a Network Marketing Company. And I learned a lot.
Hope you share with me your Network Marketing Experiences...
Thanks a lot!
I feel like going out there and just implement my business ideas already, but I guess this is the effect you as a great leader have on people.
The negative tone on our economy is exacerbated by the media, and they too, have this effect on people, albeit towards a more negative direction unfortunately.
As for me, I am looking for my first graduate job! Difficult yes, but as you said, the opportunities are out there! Well, we'll see how that goes right?
Everyone talks of doom and gloom, yet you know in your gut that there are still opportunities to be made. My co-workers at my present job are crying the economic blues, and ever since I've attended Trump U (about two weeks) I've learned more about wealth building than I ever did in my entire adult life.
I still have the notebook from the 2005 Learning Annex Wealth Expo in New York when you told the audience your 12 steps to success. I'm going to follow those steps (and the Trump U courses) to the letter.
Sincerely,
Rich Henson
And I agree with you completely. I think times will always be good for those who are brave enough to do the opposite of what the majority are doing.
Some people say, "you are what you eat."
I feel, "you are what you think."
If you think like a Loser, you probably will be one.
I have to say that I have always admired your success, it seems everything you touch turns to gold! I also know how much hard work goes into all your endeavors.
However, for some of us things don’t go that smoothly and this recent economic downturn has had serious consequences. I also firmly believe that the media has talked us into most of these problems, but they are real on some levels.
I’m an educated (MBA from University of Houston) small business owner. A year ago someone approached us to buy the business. We discussed it and decided to wait two more years until our youngest daughter was out of college. WHAT A MISTAKE!!
We own a retail store that sells high end hot tubs and hearth products (gas logs, wood stoves, etc.). Since we purchased the business seven years ago we have doubled revenue and were very comfortable with our sales.
Now I have to say the blog Times Are Good isn’t ringing true to me. As you can imagine people are not buying hot tubs with the economy the way it is. They’re not even looking – and I have no money to advertise! I’ve had to let all our help go because hot tub sales in the spring were down over 70%. Our spring hot tub revenue usually carries us through summer until the fall. Well, the only good thing that has happened to us is that our lease is up. We are now in the process of closing our business which had been at the same location for 20 years.
We now owe a significant amount of money, having already refinanced our house, tapped into our 401K (I know that’s a no-no), and had our daughter apply for financial aid for college we are about to embark on an unexpected late life financial recovery. We pray everyday that somehow we’ll get out of this financial nightmare. To make matters worse, since I’ve had to work alone everyday I hurt my back carrying out gas logs for a customer which caused us to be closed several days. We have always worked hard and had worked in corporate America for years. This business was suppose to get us through until our kids were out of college when we could semi-retire. Until November 2007 things were on track. That’s when we really started seeing a downturn. But nothing prepared us for what was coming in 2008.
The economy alone has really hurt us, we’ve thought of all different alternatives to stay afloat but without capital it's hard to change directions, we need to just close our doors, cut our losses and stop getting further behind. We may have to sell our home of 22 years and will definitely have to work well into our sixties or seventies to recover.
I’m a very optimistic person and keep thinking something will happen to make this less financially stressful. I’m busy researching new ways to make money in this economy once we close the business (without a need for upfront cash).
I just had to comment that while it is possible to use these times to find good investments and make things work for you, there are some of us who tried to do everything right and the economy alone has buried us in unforeseen debt! We were financially comfortable, upper middle class and just not able to recover from 8 months of losses.
Fortunately, we’re intelligent people with good work backgrounds and we will be able to go back to work, as long as companies don’t think we’re too old!!
Thank You So Much for your Positive Thinking and Positive Insight, as well as all the support you give and teach in helping visionaries manifest their dreams!
All the Best to you with the utmost success in all your endeavors!
Respectfully,

It be a small business now but I know it won't be for long because I can and will be successful again. Your encouragement through your stories and your life experiences has helped me tremendously. Your organization is the most professional and toughest that I've seen.
