September always seems like the start of a new year. It’s back to school time and the energy is great. Now that I have my three eldest children working at The Trump Organization and doing so well professionally and personally, I am often asked what the secret is to raising good kids. I’m not sure if any of these things are a secret, but there are some guidelines that I think are effective.
After seeing me on television on The Apprentice, people might think I’m a tough guy. That’s true in some ways, but most people will admit that I’m fair. When it comes to my children, I think they learned quite a bit from watching me. I remember how much I learned from watching my own father, so I made sure I set a good example for them. Children are likely to emulate what they see. They saw that I worked hard, enjoyed what I was doing, and they followed suit.
I also stressed the importance of education. I always have, and I always will. That’s one reason I founded Trump University. Education is the foundation for success, and my kids knew they were fortunate to attend the best schools. They studied hard and did well, and were well prepared for their careers when they made their choices.
Setting the standard is another angle to consider. Challenge is good for children (and adults) and accomplishment creates a healthy self respect. I know I always feel great after working hard and seeing the results of that work, and I think most people are the same in that way. I let them know they were exceptional, and therefore exceptional results were expected. The result? Exceptional performance.
Our family has always participated in philanthropic efforts and my children are active and effective in that arena already. It’s important to exhibit a sense of community, and giving back is a great feeling. Don Jr., Ivanka and Eric are all philanthropists in addition to being dynamic business people. I’m proud of their work as well as their ethics.
Here’s to the new school year, and another terrific year at Trump University. Whether you are students or parents or both, remember to set a good example. It will profit everyone.

As a designer I feel I work hard for others to ground their success, but I have a hard time to design for my own success...Since there is a balance to everything I wonder if it is possible to be a successful business person and at the same time keep the sensitive artistic side at balance.

faculity and it's professors are the very best!
We thought about finding a university and sharing knowledge about college credits and it's academic degree courses with other business school's. To reap the rewards of college credit and other online universities. In doing so, we may sponsor and put forth a live concert for a charity and split it's profits with charity and a scholorship fund to put towards TrumpU students.
Bring passion to a new school year!
I agree that education is important, but i also believe that education can only go so far and then it really ends up depending on the person, themself.
I will give you a small example...
a. There is a chef that has a certification for cooking
b. There is a uneducated chef
The chef with certification can't even cook a loaf of bread properly and the uneducated chef can cook gourmet.
Question : Why is this???
Answer : The chef with certification had all the knowledge and understanding, but not the ability, skill or passion for the actual cooking. The uneducated chef had background from influence or high interest in cooking so everything was natural.
I believe the experiences and what revolves around you are what are big influences to the skills and strengths in your life. I believe that a child will have a parental inheritance, but i'm not talking about money, i'm talking about the inheritance of the gifts and strengths of the parent. The child may not go the same way as the parent, but the gifts and strengths have been placed in the child by the parents example.
Let me know what you think!!!

Always been a big fan..finally got a book from you..and now your blog...Not sure if im gonna get a reply from you through here..but ive always got his question..I 've just established my own interior design company with 3 other old friends ..We started with no $$$ and our first project was to design and renovate a house. Not bad we started it and completed it..
My worry is, how do sustain these projects tn ensure .constant projects..no one will give you projects for nothing...we are just young new entrepreneurs..Can someone or a business do well without the need to get involve with bribery...or give something to get something in return?.....Our principles is to be honest and trustworthy but seeing the world today is it even possible?...Need your opinion...really..
Im working 2 jobs ..daytime my daily office job and nite time my own company with my partners...I hope i can resign from my current work and concentrate solely on my own....but till i find the stability ...that's somehow not possible at the moment.....
any feedback would be good..especially from mr trump himself...
Cheers!

did you and do you still help financially your kids and family members?
We haven't started on kids yet, but I hope that I could leave them a Legacy as well...
THANKS FOR THE BLOGS....
Since I have two young children (3 years & 11 months), I felt compelled to post a comment here. Setting a good example is paramount for the education of our children. In the early stages, where I am now with my kids, they absorb everything. The quality of your time and lessons you teach them are lasting and have great impact.
Later on, as with your example, there is the cumulative effect of your efforts, your successes and failures, and how you handled these challenges and rewards. I have found that those core values you mentioned; education, hard work, self respect, exceptional performance, philanthropy and giving back, form the backbone of educating our children, and ourselves.
We are all, essentially, going back to school each day as new challenges and opportunities present themselves. I applaud Trump University and Mr. Trump for helping us all during our respective "school days."
All the best,
Jeff P.
I sent you a joint offer opportunity regarding the Leadership for the Nation once known as America. Have you read it yet? Since you also have a Coat of Arms, I too like high performance people who have the guts to answer directly. I'll await your response.
