Since I often emphasize the importance of being aware on a global level, I was reminded by a chapter in my book with Robert Kiyosaki, Why We Want You To Be Rich, which came out in 2006. In this chapter I gave some facts about China and India that illustrate why I stress knowing something about other countries should be a priority.

These two facts alone about China were a clear indication of how that country is doing:

  • The first Starbucks opened in China in 2004. There are now more Starbucks in China than in the United States.
  • In the 1970’s, Shanghai had exactly one skyscraper. It now has over 800.

As a builder of skyscrapers, that is an astounding number. I also have a Starbucks in Trump Tower. But the main point is that China is a huge force, and we should know something about it. I give those two examples because they are visually powerful, but there are many more facts you would do well to find out.

India is also an economic force and I read that many people in the United States had only a vague idea about where India is and about its history. It’s a fact that 38 percent of doctors in the US are of Indian descent, and 12 percent of scientists as well. Here are some more facts about India:

  • India is the world’s largest, oldest continuous civilization
  • India is the world’s largest democracy
  • In the last 10,000 years, India has never invaded any country
  • Chess was invented in India
  • India invented the number system, and algebra, trigonometry and calculus originated in India
  • India is the largest English-speaking nation in the world.
  • Sanskrit is the mother of all the European languages
  • India was the richest country on earth until the 17th Century when the British invaded

The United States has been a ‘superpower’ for a short amount of time when you consider the history of the world. Are you familiar with the Ottoman Empire and how long they were the dominating force in the world? For over six hundred years they wielded enormous power. If you want to understand the world you live in, give history a chance. It’s also a good way to give yourself a better chance at success in life. As Mark Twain said, Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.

Dear Mr. Trump,

I totally agree with you about how many of us are unaware of the strides that the great nations of China and India have taken in developing themselves internally... China sometimes gets some attention as being the factory of the world but many people ignore India as a powerhouse for services that span the globe and not just within their own borders... And it was quite interesting finding out that India in 10,000 years of existence has never invaded a country. No wonder the Indians are instead concentrating on learing and advancing their country.

On a final note I would just like to point out that the fact about numbers, algebra, etc originating in India is a bit erronous. They actually have Arab roots in Egypt and Babylon.

Respectfully,

Mr. Trump I commend you and Robert Kiyosaki for collaborating on such an important topic. I purchased "Why We Want You To Be Rich" in 2006 (hot off the press), and told some friends about it. Many of them said that I was foolish and just wasted my money, but for myself and the few who took you and Mr. Kiyosaki's advice to heart, we're doing well financially. I have read it at least four times already and the pages are flagged with Post-It notes and marked up with highlighter on key topics of interest. It's money well invested and I will highly recommend this book to anyone.

I have a copy of that book , and i must admit it opened doors for me, It gave me a good insight into development ie the history of the world, personal stories of both authors,which i believe are key ingredients in making a good intellect, my challenge so far is stepping out and doing the one thing i would love to do , and that is twisting the technology and ideas used in China and India ,and tranfering it to Africa,their are a lot to be tapped and i just don't know how exactly to go about it... kindly help

Hi Mr. Trump, I am from Beijing China and I have witnessed the enormous change in economy and buildings there. When I first came to the USA to further my master I was like 'wow, there is no skyscrapers here? ' (I am in Michigan State by the way). Beijing is developing fast that's why more and more foreign investment are coming in. I miss that dynamic city! Beijing has lots of fantastic building, such as new CCTV Tower (it is shaped like a trousers) ,Nestle Stadium, and nice buildings in CBD areas. However, most old buildings do not have good materials so they do not look as modern.Mr. Trump I hope that you would build your first Trump Tower in China, Beijing soon!

By the way, your wife and son are beautiful, I never missed one season of your Apprentice!

this thought of yours is exactly how i opened up the sealed book in the bible.revelations.also Daniels book.i solved the bible codes so called future edition.even though i was ignored by most everyone on the path to solving the bibles riddles i kept my focus on finding the answers.i accomplished this by knowing what did not produce results. others have put lifetimes into researching out the bible and only have pieces and parts. so i assembled these and i took the clues from the ancient ones that they left,applied reverse thoughts on the clues and i realized i had the answer.i found revelation chapter four,verse seven,the four faces.lion,calf.man,eagle.revealed.the location is in our country.i figured out the future from reassembling the present and the past.the text i extracted from the bible is the story of us,present day.the names and events are already been proven true.i told many things and they happened after i reported them. you sir,have many good positive thoughts.nice inspiration is what i get here.thanks.

With due respect please rectify your understanding about algebra. It was invented by Arabs and secondly we can not compare India with China. More than half of India’s population lives below poverty line. The reality of India can only be seen by visiting their metropolis. At nights in Delhi and Bombay there is hardly any space to walk because 70% of the inhabitants sleeps on the footpaths. India needs centuries to overcome this poverty. Actually 17% of the people on earth lives in India, most of them are poor people and 95% of them will opt for migration to USA or EU, if given an opportunity. The Doctors and Scientists are actually the result of brain drain from a marginalized country.

As you mentioned, we can't take things for granted. If we want to remain in a position of power, we need to become a lot more globally aware. Not just of the growth of other nations, or the competition and markets, but also the religions and culture - which are closely tied to history. The religion and culture a person or business operates from makes a world of difference in the ethics they bring to any relationship or agreement. I would recommend the book Collapse by Jared Diamond if you are interested in what makes a society or business thrive. The author James Michener did a tremendous amount of research on the history of many countries for his books as well. Meeting with or hosting exchange students from the country with which you want to do business gives you first hand experience in many aspects of different cultures. Happy Thanksgiving to all. That is one very American tradition, and we certainly have been blessed for the past few hundred years.

In looking at Global Facts ... evidence would show that mathmatics was alive in many parts of the world ten thousand years ago. Another interesting fact is that the world had been all been mapped by the Great Sea Kings close to this time. They have some in the Smithsonian! From the Moment Man Opened his eyes upon the morning Sun, gazed at the Moon and the positioning of the Stars in the Night Sky......
Your TrumpDubai movie is loads of Fun. So much as to I decided to take a deeper visit virtually. Must be a great view out of the window of Your Tower Looking out at the World.
Thanks

My lovely girlfriend says there were Starbucks in China prior to 2004.

I'm happy to join this blog community. I recently finished "Think Like A Billionaire" the audiobook and I look forward to learning so much more.

I think Mr. Trumps view on India go beyond what has happened in the recent days. In fact I feel a greater pull toward that part of the Globe asI write this. We are on the Verge of Some Major change in the age where we can play chess through the web with another on the other side of the World!
My heart goes out to the those around the world who lost family in the Tragedy

In the last 10,000 years, India has never invaded any country.
~~~~there is not one country never invade any other country in the history. Not to mention a big country. Unless it 's weak.
where find the statistics?
India is an interesting paradigm.
Its an economy by itself, waiting to be opened out to the world when the time is right.
I've traveled through India many times, knowing and seeing so many interesting things each step of the way. Although sometimes people say seeing is believing, we'll never truly see India until we go there and live there.
After all, when we only see what we can see, and we can only do what we can do. In the end, we'll just be what we can see and do.
The global economy lies not in domination but simply in corporation. When we learn to work together, the world will be our oyster.
China understood it. Now we're just waiting for India and the rest of Asia to figure it out.
I live in small-town British Columbia. I am in the process of compiling a business plan for a microbrewery. Part of my plan includes exporting my micro-brewed beer to China and other overseas countries. I am going to focus on exports because there is not much of a demand in the domestic market. One of the most difficult challenges I face at this time is developing a great name for my beer and company. I want an image attached to my name that fits into the Global Market. This is more difficult than it seems. Do you have any ideas?
I hate history... no wonder I'm broke!
It's interesting how Mr Trump advocates learning from history. It's even interesting how the Ottoman empire gets a highlight. Why not the other empires like the Roman empire or the British empire? What's so special about this particular empire? How come a non-muslim knows more about this empire than most other muslims? Even my mum and grand mum are unaware of this once-upon-a-time super power.
Well I can only guess why... I'm from Malaysia, and you see, school over here teaches history lessons that gives very little meaning except for memorising dates and names of obscure kings and forgettable events. Even religion studies have been separated from other subjects, from which I've learnt very little except for instructions on how to pray et cetera. It's no surprise our education system is in this disarray. If I've learnt anything from any of my history classes, it started from this: "Divide and Rule!" - the British Empire way.., source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divide_and_rule
...
You see, the country I live in prides itself to be a Muslim country, but evident to how the politics are run over here, the majority of its people thinks otherwise.
To quote BBC, one of the reasons why it's been in power for 700 years is because its "United by Islamic ideology..." source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/islam/history/ottomanempire_2.sh
tml
For the past 100 years, I've not seen any country, claimed Islamic country or otherwise, run its country a hundred per cent by this Islamic ideology... hence the strife and many wars.
Mr Trump, I want to learn history, though somehow, I find it challenging to get unbiased historical accounts.
If you Mr Trump sir do happen to read this comment, would you please share with me the historical sources of at least this particular empire? Just so I could learn and share among my many unaware friends and family members.
...
There's already so much confusion, hatred and pain around I am right now. However, at the same time, there's a growth of understanding, love, and abundance that I see coming up.
For that, I can now see a world where we will love one another abundantly. Given, that I and we learn from what has happened - HISTORY
Thanks Mr Trump for sharing. :)
