Last week I had the privilege of presenting Michael Phelps with the Male Athlete of the Year award.  Along with former Olympian Don Schollander, I enjoyed reviewing some of the great moments of the Beijing Olympics. Of course, Phelps and his eight gold epic is one of the greatest achievements in the history of sport.

There were four candidates for this award, which Don and I covered for the ceremony. For those of you who may not know who Don Schollander is, he was the nation’s most celebrated athlete in 1964. He was on the cover of Life Magazine as the first American since Jesse Owens to win four gold medals at a single game. I can clearly remember watching him win those gold medals in 1964. Mark Spitz later went after Don’s record. After his swimming career, Don went on to become a real estate developer.

The other three athletes nominated along with Phelps were Jason Lezak, Ryan Lochte and Aaron Peirsol. These swimmers provided us with some great drama at the summer Olympics and they are all champions. I mentioned to the crowd that Ryan Lochte obviously understands the art of the comeback. He never lost confidence in himself and broke through to bring his Beijing total to four medals, two gold and two bronze. Jason Lezak had an astonishing final lap in the men’s relay and in the medley relay he anchored his team to gold. Aaron Peirsol is simply the dominant backstroker of his era.

I mention all of these tremendous athletes because they deserve mention as the champions that they are. They gave us some inspiring moments that serve as reminders of the importance of perseverance, timing, and determination. It was an honor for me to present the award to Michael Phelps, and to recognize his place in history.

Not only is Michael Phelps extremely disciplined and talented, but he is also very humble and considerate. Just prior to the Olympics, we encountered him in Ann Arbor, and he waited and held the door for my husband and I with a wonderful smile. I'm sure any accolades are well deserved.

Mr. Trump,
All of these men are great athletes who thrilled us during the Olympics. It must have been quite a thrill to meet them.

This past week, I experienced the same thing when I had the chance to meet you during the pairings party for the LPGA Championship which you graciously hosted in your Miralago home. For an entrepreneur, meeting you provides the same kind of thrill.
We drove 9 hours from Alabama to make it. The party was great, the food was excellent and we really appreciated you taking the time to shake our hands and pose for a picture with us.

We'd love to send you one of our Rotaters (our shoulder stretching and rehab device) to help you maintain or increase your shoulder flexibility - golfers love it!

If you're interested, then drop me an email and we'll get it on the way.

Thank you again for an experience that I'll never forget.

NO BUSINESS TO DO...UUUHHHHHHH

Dear
let me tell you one thing, in this world there is more than millions of ideas for doing or to start a new business but the difficult part is to survive in that same. You cannot say, there is no business. You can make your own business by you own intelligence.

I am a Graphic Designer and i am working in bahrain. I am doing freelancing also but not in bahrain, i am getting jobs from India, Dubai and Kuwait......

A Big open network is Web.

Think again dude.. and pilot hmmm thats another profession....
so i guess you better become a pilot and also you should do a business.

Best of luck....

Mr. Trump,

Would you believe I just put an entry on my blog (The Small Biz Society International Blog) called the comeback (in which I mentioned you being the king of comebacks!) and then I said, why don't you check out the Trumpster and see what he has up today, and you were talking about freakin comebacks? Uncroyable!

How are you doing? How about this economy, huh? I told everybody on my blog that no matter what the situation, you will pull out of it, because you the king of freakin comebacks!

perseverance, timing, determination, self confidence and courage backed by faith & passion often create an unstoppable force that can propel a person to breathtaking heights, no need to become a pilot. What are you most passionate about and why? What can you wake up to do again and again and love it. Find that.

Think about what you want, why you want it and how you'll get it, stay focused and your odds increase, I have 5000 hours in a C-130 Coast Guard Plane, do you really enjoy flying that much? Many pilots are out of work and away from home but there is always room for the person who really wants it and for good reason.

Purpose, Passion & Desire in humans is like Fuel, Heat & Oxygen to Fire.

What boils your blood, makes your heart race, gives you adrenaline energy? Find your passion guys.

You know what I love most about the Olympics? It is so interesting to hear about these winners and the backgrounds in which they came from. Michael Phelps story has to be the far most encouraging story that I have ever heard. Its amazing how with just the perseverance and strive of his mom he was able to become so successful. This is why coaching, mentoring, encouraging a person is so important. Without it where would he have been today? He was categorized as a failing student and as a person who wouldn't get very far in life but because he has 1 person in his life who believed in him and pushed him he was able to get this far....AND his award is WELL deserved. And all it took was one person in his life to make that difference.
