Can Corporate Responsibility Work With Wealth Creation?

While the two words are easy to say consecutively, we are finding they often do not go together in the real-life practical application.

With the exposure we have had to the downfall of corporate giants like Enron, Arthur Andersen, MCI Worldcom and many others now being bailed out by the Feds, it causes me to pause and wonder if wealth creation is possible with a team of honest, hardworking people unified in an effort to take a product or service to the highest level.

It seems with each new day we are faced with yet another scandalous indiscretion by either a businessperson or politician who was trying to get ahead (no pun intended).

I was recently introduced to and invited to join an organization which I feel embodies a different kind of mentality than the other mega-giant corporations and I think others should take note. Ambit Energy in Dallas, Texas is a young but vibrant electricity provider currently doing business in just a few states. They direct-sell electricity by way of the recent deregulation that has occurred in Texas, New York, Illinois and some others.

Here’s the impressive part...the guys at the top such as the CEO, COO, CFO, Senior IT guy, and Chief Marketing Officer, all office out in the open near each other and with no walls, doors or partitions. They went basic on the furniture by choice and maintain a philosophy of frugality that has spread throughout the company. They pay their office support staff a fair wage and their salespeople well, too. The thought of needing to call a board meeting to express ideas, concerns or solutions is merely a waste of time since they can just roll their chairs over to one another and hammer it out.

I was so thoroughly impressed with the company and how responsible they are being with their customer’s money, I thought I would share this model with my readers. It turns out that when you run a business that is not top heavy and based on greed, you tend to not topple over. Ambit is one of the fastest growing companies in US history and only just beginning to walk according to their top brass.

Do you feel that corporations have sold us all out and are now expecting us to bail them out?

To me, i just feel like the current gaint auto makers in the US has turn into a terrorist entity where they took their millions of families(their staffs') as hostages and threaten the US government by spreading world wide economic terror from their bankrupcy if the US government didnt meet their demand and pay the ransom (bail them out).

the US goverment should just stay true to their policy : Never negotiate with terrorist!

Last thing US need is to have a norm a company will not go bankrupt if the company had a million staff since the government will bail them out using 1) tax payer's money and 2) income tax from company that operate with efficiency and high profit.

while US is the free country, it doesnt mean that the government can freely take money out from the honest hardworking citizen, which elected them as the government officer, and penalise good company to feed those greedy pig.

Sorry for the outburst, but i just cant take those greedy pig any more.

I think that just like people have a life cycle, so do products, businesses and cultures. The situation we are in reminds me of an individual's rise to fame, who then begins to believe the rave reviews and becomes too comfortable. Complacency sets in, judgement is impaired, and here we are.

I also think that as psychology has documented, anonimity in crowds makes people less likely to act responsibly. The larger the corporation, the harder it is to moniter individual ethics, and the easier it is to push that button or make that choice without considering consequences.

If we are bailing others out, of course they will expect a little of the pot.

Thanks for sharing such a positive example. This was refreshing.

I think it takes a lot of cahunas to run a company into the ground and then come and ask Congress for taxpayer money to fix the mess you made. Flying in a private jet to do so is a perfect example of the entitlement mentality many CEOs have these days. There is no way Congress should provide bailout money unless the leaders of these companies agree to step down. Why give them more money to mismanage? And taxpayer money at that! When the average worker cannot perform they get fired, when the average CEO can't perform he or she gets millions of dollars...either from their board or Congress.

Yes, the executives of these companies have thrown us all under the bus for personal gain. (And let's not forget the leaders of the unions too.) Corporations are not faceless entities, they are run by people...so I don't believe that "corporations" sold us out, the people who lead these corporations have. Let's bring some personal accountability into the mix because without it there will never be any change.

The only idea I can come up with is some type of grassroots share holder movement to bring greater accountability to the boards and executives of publicly held companies. The madness has to stop.

We feel that corporate responsibilty is there...to the share-holders. Some failed, but some are still very trust-worthy. To be effecient, and more cost effective is to scale down. However, incentives to your work-force is also missing elements. Make them part of the Company. An advisory board to your
CE0 and share-holders.

it does seem to be very true in today's world that Mamagment has no responsibilty to the the share-holders. It lacks inspiration And leadership. Keep them in check with that responsibility with an honest advisory board. And ask questions to the work-force. A lot of missing elements in keeping things in check.. That is a huge mistake in inner office meetings. "Secrets & Lies to the advisory boards...A huge mistake and down-fall to the share-holders.

Energy...in Texas. Make it big...the nation will listen to new energy.

This is a great discussion and one that I think needs to be held at a number of levels as we recover from the mess we have created.

Take a look at the news about Goldman Sachs today. Goldman is paying out $2.6 billion for bonues after a 4th quarter loss of 2.12 billion and a profit of only $2.32 billion for the year (down from a profit of 11.6 billion last year).

In addition to amazing waste (considering that Goldman received US bailout money), one must consider how sustainable that model is?

It reminds me of when Donald Trump once said "You cannot reward people for just showing up. They must be rewarded on results".

If every company matched their bonus pool dollar for dollar against their profit #, there wouldn't be much profit to make at some point, once the company ceases to exist.

We need to get back to sharp business principles, rewarding people who really contribute and inviting the rest to contribute or find somewhere else that is more inline with their purpose and passion.

The people who crafted the bailout should be exercising more control over this.

The people doling out outrageous, unsustainable bonuses should be replaced.

The boards that allow such things to happen should also be replaced.

I'm all for rewarding people - but let's make is commensurate with contribution.

Take care,

Harry

Not yet. Public corporations board rooms are corrupt with rampent cronieism. Former executives promoted and nomitated to the board rooms hire the next good ol' boy to take the CEO slot and the cycle continues. Ridiculous executive pay combined with ridiculous poor performance is a prima facia evidence of the corruption that exists. Common share holders must get together, find their own advocate and elect board members that are not corrupt and clean out the cronieism.

There are some general trends of Corporate responsibility, mainly in MARKETING their VISIONS, GOALS and BELIEFS to the general public and creating a BRAND to allude to it.

Listing philanthropic involvements and highlighting fundamental values and virtues to create the aura of solidity.

But a reminder that we are not in CHURCH, we are mere participants in corporate America with the same PRIMITIVE INSTINCT prevailing, to improve the bottom line and compete.

Some companies take things to an extreme of hypnotic redundance to create the front of trust and competence, all the verbal concern for stakeholders and the general public in press releases and speeches to media.

BUT ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.

Responsibility correlates with accountibility when inquests demand it.

Watch them scurry, watch them play pin the tail on the scapegoat and watch the hypocrits get away with it every single day in the meantime.

Corporate Responsibility is pure as New York Snow.

I am an independent consultant for Ambit Energy here in Illinois. I totally agree with what "The Don" has stated here. I loved the way this company operates and got to see it in person last spring when I visited the home office and met the top execs. Every company in the US should look to Ambit Energy as a prime example of how a company should be run. The most important thing I noticed is that they truly are responsible with their customers money. Every penny stretched no matter what as this is the company's belief system. The owners of the company sit at the EXACT same type of table that everyone else does. People can visit energyearner.com to see the benefits of becoming an Ambit Independent Consultant.

Ambit is a very special company indeed. I too am affiliated with the company . Everytime I have walked through the corporate HQ in Dallas, it really is amazing to see how open air and literally transparent the company's layout really is. The CEO actually sits out in the open and can see everyone that walks through their glass doors. In my first visit to the company , he got up to meet us an then walkeded us around for an imprompteu tour. Not your average company nor CEO and executive team.

Anyone interested in learning a bit more from someone with the company that is out in the field, please visit my site at spark1energy.com

Mr. Trump,

Thank you so much for your post!! It’s great to see that you endorse the way that non-traditional companies such as Ambit do business. In this day and age, the average person struggling to pay bill needs to hear this from a person that is as highly regarded respected as yourself.

I too work with a company very similar in business model, however, different in the way that we are about going green, staying healthy and ridding our homes of toxins. I was introduced to this company almost six years ago, had three children under the age of three at the time, and I have been able to work from home, around my children, without financial risk and -- it’s been a blast to help others do the same.

I had been earning a six figure income in corporate America until the layoffs after September 11. Although I had never been introduced to this business model prior to that time, I was open to learning and that leap of faith turned out to be a blessing which has allowed me to tell people that "my kids are my boss", not Mr. Smith in Corporate America who can give me a pink slip at any time.

Anyone can visit my site www.mykidsaremyboss.com to learn more about how I have been able to work from home around my children. Although I am a mom, I work with plenty of men from different white and blue colloar backgrounds as well.

Mr Trump, you also said "It turns out that when you run a business that is not top heavy and based on greed, you tend to not topple over." – that too
is so true and I thank you for making that clear to your readers!! ?

I am impressed but not surprised that Donald Trump has recommended the Ambit company. I have been with Ambit less than 30 days and have been floored by the results. Their business model is incredible and their product (gas and electricity) is used every hour of every day by EVERYBODY.

Every day millions of people are not paying their mortgages but they are paying to keep their lights on.

Energy services are now deregulated in many areas throughout the nation.

Electricity and Gas service is provided to customers with discounts between 1-27% per month every month.

Nothing changes.
Your electricity still comes from the same company you currently use
Your meter is read by the same company
Your bill is paid to the same company
You call the same company if you have a power issue
There is absolutely no cost to switch...period.

The ONLY thing that changes is the amount you pay for your service each and every month.

Think that's easy to sell?

You bet it is.

Call me now for more information or to be referred to information you can review yourself.

I say yes. I too am in Illinois and have been an Ambit Consultant for ten months now. I show people how to earn free energy for their homes. To save money on natural gas and electric bills To make money teaching others to do the same and I get paid for it. Thats a win win the way I see it. Ambit Energy truly puts people first.

Ambit Energy is an example of corporate responsibility? How about an example of corporate greed and irresponsibility.

For example, nearly all of the spouses of Ambit's executive team are "consultants" in the business. With access to insider information, that seems like a bit of a conflict of interest to me. If that doesn't to you, how about the fact that it is not uncommon for those executives to modify data to allow a spouse to earn a bonus worth hundreds of dollars. Or rules being manipulated for those spouses.

Or Ambit inactivating their consultants but still charging their credit cards monthly for the web site fee. Yes, I know that this is spelled out in the contract that the consultants all read and sign, but sometimes responsibility goes beyond what a contract says in order to treat customers right.

Or Ambit giving away "free" trips that require up front payment that will be "reimbursed", when it is often more trouble than many people will exert. Eventually, many of those people will give up on the reimbursement. It is deceptive to say the least.

Or Ambit's habit of paying bonuses only to people who sign up in states that pay the most in the sign up fee. For example, people in some states can be charged Ambit's usual signup fee of $399, but in some states, the maximum for that fee is $199. Ambit pays promotions only to people who sign up in the $399 states; something which is illegal in many states.

There are people who legitimately make good money with Ambit's opportunity, but many people are the targets of dishonest "consultants", and Ambit turns a blind eye to the practice in the interest of money. I can't consider that to be an example of corporate responsibility, no matter how I define the phrase.

Yes, absolutely agree. I had an opportunity to chat with Jere Thompson Jr, the CEO, yesterday, for the 4th time. A wonderful person with great integrity. The company is growing faster than 99.99% of the companies out there. The fastest company in history to hit $1 Billion was 6 years and this company will do it in about 4. Anyone wants to know more can contact me through my site at www.MyIncomeFromEnergy.com It is incredibly rare to find a gem and this gem is truly recession proof.

Also belonging to this great and soon to be one of the top companies in the US. I have personally had the pleasure of meeting and shaking the hands of the CEO, CMO and many others in Ambit. This company is so unique and supportive where everyone wants you to be successful. This is very hard to find in corporate America.

I would like for others to check out and see what Mr. Trump has mentioned and referred to in his blog. Your future business opportunity and support system is just one click away. Go to http://www.free-energy-today.vpweb.com and see for yourself.

Thank you Mr. Trump for your personal comments and encouraging words on an upcoming #1 company.

They have already created 4 millionaires in less than 24months faster than almost every mlm out there, Now that's impressive. They are currently at a $450 million dollar run rate. Not to metion with leaders like; Manuel Cintron, Jennifer Cruz, Nicholas Virrella, Carlos Marin, Albert Cleary, Johnny Ventura, Ziraida Cruz, just to mention a few. Ambit Energy is a GREAT company. Many people have their views and opinions and that is fine. Understand the few people who are unhappy with Ambit always want the fast and easy way out. When you put your money, where your mouth is and work hard things happen. I have worked this business for one year and have made a greater percentage return on my investment than any other investment. I have property in various states and the fundamentals are what get you to the top. Everyone is not honest and that is unfortunate but do not allow a few bad apples spoil what Ambit is which is a great opportunity for you to become financially free. Anyone looking to make it happen in Brooklyn, New York or any other state I am more than happy to work with you. http://thunte.energy526.com

Ambit Energy, lead by Jere Thompson and Chris Chambless, is a class act company. They chose direct sales as the business model because it is a win win for both the company and the consultants. I was blessed to be at the right place and the right time to join Ambit when they first started in Texas. I started from the ground up and promoted myself through team work. I earn an impress 6 figure residual income, and would be happy to share my success with you. Call me on my direct line at 817-366-4589! I started Ambit a year ago because it came to me from a prayer and I put it on the back burner while I made great money at my company. Then last week my prayer was God do I do this or not and the next week I was downsized, I got my answer. So if anyone needs help in the Rockland, NY area, I'm here to help them. This business gives anyone but especially those experiencing downsizing to never worry about being out of a job (just over broke) ever again. You can reach me at www.energyu2save.goambit.com.

Thanks Mr. Trump for your real estate investing school (which I'm a student) and for endorsing my business in AMBIT.

A great teacher once said: how you do one thing is how you do everything.

With both corporate procedures and their marketing arm, Ambit Energy is setting an unprecedented standard in network marketing today. From its committment to be the most respected utility provider to its long-term purchasing agreement with a household name in the energy industry--and yes, that frugality Mr. Trump's article illustrated--well, Ambit will likely set a new standard in the direct sales industry.

I am a mother of five and former teacher who has happily and successfully worked as an independent consultant for over a year now. I've yet to find fault with this company. The key word in the sentence I just wrote is "worked." It's my business and I treat it as such, so it pays me like a business ought to. Ambit has put everything it can in place for its consultants to succeed, and I can guarantee that if people work this like it's their corporation, they will make money.

I have been a Consultant for Ambit since June 2008, a friend whom I care dearly for introduced me to the business, just like every other Ambit consultants story. I'm doing well for myself through the music biz recording in Houston, under the name, Inner Loop Studios doing Gangster Rap/Classic Rock Covers/Original Alternative Rock and working with names like The Daddy Long Necks and The Hectic, all whom are more friends than just some band I'm sponsoring as a corporation. Plus, being specialized in labor, that can do anything imaginable or needed,(Tough House Company), because of my life experiences from working for myself since being an early bloomer, (an adult sized nine year old), and all my friends at the time were Vietnam vets or street vets, showing me how to work, years before my time. On top of all that, my commitment to my friends like Ron Limbock, Christian Rock/Country Event organizer and who also runs the largest A.M.A. sanctioned motorcycle event in North America, The Lone Star Rally in Galveston, Texas which on a year we're not fighting hurricanes, we see two hundred and fifty thousand committed American brothers and sisters for four days with numbers for those four days reaching well above a million, and we see them come back every year congratulating us for doing the event and for bringing an awesome show to the island which gives back in charity to various organizations not only to the island, but to the state as well. More than a Motorcycle rally, it's an American Celebration Freedom Festival because half of people who show are like me, they don't ride, we've been doing the show since 2003, in Galveston.
Being a part of all these positive happenings around me and the pride involved from me, and the involvement from the people above me whom I work with more as an equal unofficial vice-president designing the protocol of how things are done from the labor perspective and as a Hunter S. Thompson-ian Lawyer, extinguishing fires before they start, I can see why any Ambit consultant would sponsor me, much less my friend Dawn. It's all a numbers game to me anyways so I said why not with the numbers I'm dealing with on a regular basis, so I became a consultant for Ambit incorporating my name brand and logo, (me=Tough House Company) and ran with THC-ENERGY.COM, very catchy.
So eventually I got Ron to put me on his web site under the tab: Friends of the Rally on LoneStarRally.com and a linked it to one of my web sites, ToughHouseCorporation.com. One of the events I helped Ron out with as soon as I became a consultant was Summer Fest in Baytown, Texas which is a Christian Rock event in cooperation with the Bay Area Ministerial Alliance,B.A.M.A., and one of many pre-rally sales/event promotions. When Ron does an event, you'll hear about it on all radio channels, regionally along with publications, the man knows how to run his business with detail, I saw the numbers explode with visitors on my end at my site, I'm always hopeful things will work out especially, with numbers in my favor as summer progressed after Summer Fest and other promotions. I'm so hopeful at times that it'll make my ego cocky at times like when hurricane Ike was coming, I was helping out my now senior citizen Vietnam vets board up their windows, ignoring my house and packing the same day to go to Dallas for the Ambit company convention, Ambition 2008, for training and motivation, again, cocky, if Ike came close to damaging anything, I don't call an insurance adjuster, I'm already the guy he calls to get it fixed.
As I'm getting trained in the ways of the force, I barely see Ike in the form of sprinkling shower as home gets smashed. With National media coverage, I saw my web site get flooded with visitors as we changed our dates many times dealing with the city along with a snow stor
