Most uprisings and revolutions find their beginnings in injustice. The French and American revolutions are two examples, and we can trace this back to Greek history. Democracy started there. The people had a justified outrage and managed to change things.
Just recently in Paris, the French protested layoffs by barricading the director of a large company in his office and another similar incident happened at Sony in the South of France a couple of weeks ago. It seemed to work--after the ‘bossnapping’ occurred, Sony agreed to talk about severance packages. So far this is a revolt without violence, but it’s a barometer of the times that isn’t a good sign.
Many countries are experiencing economic woes, and the outrage in U.S. has been intense as well. Our greatest fear should be people who have no conscience, and there are obviously people who have no guilt for their behavior or actions, with AIG (short for Arrogance, Incompetence and Greed) as a primo example. President Obama has pointed out that this kind of behavior can’t be tolerated, and I know many people were stunned by their apparent disregard for their fellow citizens, just as they were by Bernard Madoff’s scheme.
As someone who is often the target of criticism, I know there are many reasons for being a target. The biggest reason is being prominent--if you attract attention, that attention can go from good to bad to worse. Anything and everything you do will be noticed. I always remember when the New York Times critic, Herbert Muschamp, reviewed Trump World Tower at the UN Plaza, which had been under serious attack from many angles. He gave it a glowing review and mentioned that “Trump does better when he ignores his critics than when he pays attention to them.” That was a great compliment, especially considering the source.
However, when the livelihoods of people are threatened by people who are just plain greedy, that’s a different scenario. Injustice has become apparent, and our criticism of their behavior is warranted.

Thank you, Colleen
But, maybe staying positive does not win. Shaking things up and then see what may happen. A lesson learned in the "art of war" and in the boardrooms. It's a interesting period of history...
I have never gone first but here goes... When you talk about people who have no guilty conscience I think of the latest shooting at the Nursing Home in N.C. recently. These persons on Wall Street must have absolutely no fear to rape the buying public and then just walk down the street like nothing happened. With all the violence in this country, I would be afraid someone would "John Lennon" me if I were one of those barrons, and did what they appear to be doing and have done from way down here in St. Pete. Honestly, I know how they sleep at night for I have done things of which I am not proud. But to leverage our consumer debt on the backs of infants the way they have is just unforgiveable! We are in for tough times ahead because of these GREEDY Lenders, and they are still living the high life - it seems. I know that 9/11 was a terrible loss (not just to persons; but for the financial community in general in NYC . . . ) but --- to think that illegals in this country can pay for our loss knowing the prejudice that lives in Americana has got to be the most fool hardy idea I have ever heard! I would expect that kind of idea from a vagrant on the street, but NOT from a Wall Street Wizard! They are supposed to have some thing called "class" - or maybe that's just what I get for thinking!
Yours Truly Mr. Donald Trump,

I believe there is merit in the negative comments. As someone's Mother probably has said... learn from what is said behind your back, to your face ,wherever. Empires have been taken down not by the vote at the board table but by the person not invited to the table.
The courses offered talk about the business features but what about the other side of success.? How do yo manage to stay on the up and up ...would your employees "bossnap"you or hold a parade in your honor? Being tough is not always the only way to run a business. Any thoughts on why CEOs like you are not on the end of the AIG rope.

And Mr. Trump, with all due respect, as I am sure you are aware those AIG bonuses were wrote into the bailout contract last year. And the players on the Hill knew that. Other than being "retention" bonuses what specifics do we really know. Like say for example, did an AIG executive agree to work for $1 (yes one dollar) for the year instead of taking his normal salary. Isn't only fair that he get that bonus, if for no other reason, making that initial sacrifice for the good of the company. As matter of fact, at least one did. He also posted his resignation letter in a MAJOR newspaper. Were these retention bonuses to say, retain people, during the bailout so as to try to keep performers on to try to bring AIG out of the brink? And now, Obama is talking about capping salaries for execs of companies that accept federal monies. (That is fascism, by the way, for those that did not look in the dictionary)One figure I heard, was $400,000 a year, or no more than the President of the United States makes. Yeah, that's good idea. That will definitely bring top talent to the company, or get talent to stay. Especially, when they know they could go to either an unsubsidized American company or even to a foreign company and make 3x that, or more.
We have gone from God bless America to God, please save America.....
Thank you for touching on political psychology today. We are in a very interesting, and precarious time. With the huge differences in standards of living in the world, many countries such as France are becoming positioned for uprisings, coups, and revolutions. Even our own country has factions working behind the scenes to cause chaos and anarchy. I think of Africa, France, and of course any war torn places.
When people can't meet their basic human needs, things have to change. This why it is so important to also make sure that programs and services are in place to meet the needs of the masses. In the USA, we do this through donations, volunteers, and not-for-profits. We have a better standard of living than many places, but we could do even better.
I think that as a nation, we need to include service learning and volunteerism in education starting in pre-school. Teaching youth to think of others is the first step in helping them to make unselfish decisions. I also think that we need to include international philanthropic and humanitarian projects as part of childrens education. I think our Churches need to develop and expand mission efforts. I think our local community clubs and organizations should all include local as well as international service projects. I think our Chambers of Commerce should be active in helping establish foreign markets and relationships. I think businesses should partner with people in other countries. We can all benefit from communication in better understanding, and in the sharing of ideas. Money exchanged is a trade. Ideas exchanged grow and multiply.
You also touched on values and conscience. I guess there are many ways we can work to help develop this in our people. In your businesses, having a clear mission and vision that inspires and is highly visible, posters with values, effective employee reviews that emphasize core values, and exemplary leadership all can contribute. At home, of course teaching and inspiring your family with you beliefs will contribute. In your community, speaking up and taking action when you see something that needs correcting will help, and encouraging others to make good choices. I think our media has the power to tremendously influence us by the messages conveyed. We are all either part of the problem or part of the solution based on the little choices we make each moment.
But hey! When you think of all these rats who got us into this crap, it feels good to know that the most powerfull country in the world is lead by a good solid person.
Even if Obama would make the wrong moves, it will never get as bad as with Geroge Bush, because I have reasons to suspect he was not a good person.
One thing that ALWAYS goes ahead of good business, is beeing a good person.
Example: On 50 cents show 'The Money and the Power' there was a challenge in the 1st episode which was for both teams to race through The Bronx attached to eachother in chains. After a while, they knocked over an elderly lady. Some yelled that they must stay and help, others not. See what I mean? I mean, If you were to die today and look back on your life, what would have been most important to you? Helping others or yourself? Who are you if you don't help other people? Nothing. Yes actually you are something, ****.
