The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand
as in what direction we are moving.

--Oliver Wendell Holmes

This quote brings home a powerful thought, and it has to do with circumstances. Many people are dealing with difficult circumstances now and it’s important to remember that it can be a temporary situation. As long as we keep moving forward, things are certain to change.

Keeping things in perspective is helpful. I have mentioned before that a fear should be labeled a concern, as that allows for more objectivity. I also ask myself, “is this a blip or is it a catastrophe?” An earthquake, a war, a tsunami--those are catastrophic events. Suddenly our problems take on a different slant when compared with disasters.

Another empowering stance to take with circumstances is not to let them define you. You can be in tough times and still retain your integrity and control. Control can mean controlling your thoughts in the direction you want to go. See yourself as being lucky--suddenly things can take on a whole new dynamic and you’ll be opening yourself up to change in a most positive way.

Thanks, I needed that inspiration, Mr. Trump. I think I would add, don't lose the lesson in the experience. Circumstances don't define you, and you shouldn't let other people define you either. Define yourself. Remember you are the one thing you control, and who is better qualified to know what is really best for you? Don't waste your time or energy on people who are too small minded to realize your value - just realize they are the biggest losers, because you could have been their biggest asset. Don't waste time or energy on people who don't have your best interest at heart. Life is brief. Live with gusto.

Mr Trump, Thank you for these encouraging words. These are difficult times for a lot of people, there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak but your words are encouraing especially so coming from a person who doesn't have to take the time out to do this. Thanks again.

I was rereading my economics today I am lucky to have talent skills beauty and education living in Malaysia too is pretty lucky since we are a peaceful nation with a stable economy but my success is still in its baby steps, my family has deserted me thinking I am Emily Rose possesed by some ancient powers what a joke? In my life my family subjected me through many spiritualists who held many claims of my illness being exorcism and paranormal ailments. I am scientific and modern to me I lacked vitamins minerals exercise an income which many people too in the world may suffer from. I pitied my family who was conned thousands upon thousands of dollars for treating my ailment. I just got tired of all this voodoo and felt I have to always maintain myself stable and able in life through logical ways. Since I was small I was forced to 'entertain' healers in dark rooms alone and it was actually sexual harrassment. I am in pain but I still survived I have to walk towards the future with full energy eventhough I am very alone. I sense self confidence growing and I start to love myself and live happily with soceity and new friends. Circumstances made me suffer but I know NOT FOREVER.

I agree that control is crucial if one wants to succeed in anything. I admit that there are situations where it's hard to maintain control, however if you remain calm and find the right direction thing will get much better.
