The following question was submitted to "Ask Donald Trump" by a Trump University member.

Blog ImageQuestion:
What is it that motivates you every day in the morning besides your family, love and passion for your business?

My Response:
I have remained a curious person and that’s a motivation in itself. There’s always something to discover, and every day provides another opportunity. Remain alert and curious and you’ll be motivated every morning too.

staying alert comment, brings to mind the issue of drinking and substance usage, which i remember that Mr. Trump consumes minimally if any at all, yes? (not judging or criticizing just want to understand keys to success, and learn their commonalities)

I am thrilled to hear Mr. Trump remind us of a very important outlook in life.

As we grow and mature, we often become analytical, and with analysis comes a mindset that sees, and disassembles only what is. Children see life through a curious mind as if looking at the mystical, and it's in that same curious mystical outlook where we discover possibilities in what we once thought to be impossible.

We live in a time where the world belongs to the curious--the people who aren't afraid to ask the questions, "what is that...why is that...what if we did it differently"?

To the curious, the world still offers INCREDIBLE opportunity.

Me too, but I am not sure this is something that is easy to awaken in many people. I know when I was young, a lot of people tried to make me be less inquisitive. I heard "Curiosity kills the cat" all the time - and often from the people who should be the most interested in feeding the mind. People with that same mindset are frequently the ones who also say "Stop daydreaming" I love to come from a place of possibility, and questions, and creative answers energize me, but so does action. I am also motivated by examples from history, great quotes and association with high performance people, by challenging tasks, and by things I value. Finally, I am motivated by the results of my previous accomplishments and momentum. Fortunately, there have only been a few times in my life, when events derailed me, and I had to regroup. KeyS Thank you for helping to motivate

Hello from Finland,

I like to add something to Donald Trump´s word - my own motivations : )

I have this inner generator which creates me daily strong motivation to try, learn and delivery. Every day is a new possibility to achieve something great. Real Opportunity. Lately I have been writing a book INSPIRE ME. I like challenge all small business writer with my unique fresh style. Purely this one work awareness gives me lot of energy & drive and true that I´m fully motivated. So when You put Your dreams to the paper they become goals. And Goal setting is a great motivator as we see from my own book. And book itself is very meaning full to me - I like leave a mark to this world. Everyone should!

In generally I´m in very blessed situation with 30 years of experience on sales. I ve met over 50 000 customer navigating situation and maid already worth 30 Meur business to these BtoC and BtoB customers. This experience (after hard work & trying) gives me ultimate motivation because I´m holding something great to share to other nubees or to people who are on need of help or encouragement. That possibility, to reach others with help, gives me motivation.

To make something with own thoughts with other oder to change the world to become better place. That is also a good motivator which should reach every ones mind besides your family, love and passion for your business.

Best Regards,

I'm a curious person- always gathering information like a sponge- but that has only motivated me to learn. Learning is a good thing but not an end in itself. Learning helps you to help others but not necessarily to help yourself. Find that the motivation that I need, is the motivation to ACT with courage, discipline and focus- not rashly or impulsively- but with a firm purpose and target in mind.

Dear Mr Trump,

I could not agree more, I have often pin pointed this point of 'curiosity' out to people.

The fear of loss - that a day might pass without profit. Expectation of discovery - that I will find something to profit by. Anticipation of the unexpected - that the unexpected will test my ability to respond well and to the point. -- Mike

Once again, we are taking for granted the use of our six senses, and the ability to get up in the morning and physically be able to work on a project. A bed patient, can be alert and curious. He generally watches the hospital staff doing their work and wants to know when the bleep! he is going to be released from this bleeping hospital.
So, taking care of my health, avoiding unncessary risks that can lead to accidents that will prevent me from doing what I am passionate about, and waking up feeling grateful for another chance to do what I love motivates me to learn something new, share what I've learned, and be thankful when events turn out better than I planned. Not knowing every detail of my day, the people I will meet, or the break through I will make on a difficult problem keeps me motivated and happily involved on my journey through life.

I love your positive attitude! I believe you when you said, "you can't fail unless you quit". I learned that my disappointments or the expected negative situations were motivation enough, to take the necessary steps and turn the situation around and move toward success. Laughter helps me to keep perspective, mentoring, other positive-minded investors, and the education I am receiving from Trump U. help with my motivation. The feelings of hopelessness, despair, and negativism are motivation's killers. Positive affirmations, prayer, focusing on a larger purpose, and exercise help me to maintain positive energy and perspective.

I appreciate this discussion cuz I have some trouble with 'motivation' in the morning. I still haven't conquered this hurdle in life ... but I will say that I look forward to a cup of coffee when I wake up !!! Yes, the simple things in life can be inspiring!

Mr. Trump, I just retired from my career as a director at an engineering company at the age of 62, because I was losing money every month and my smart wife, Brenda, and I have been getting educated in Real Estate Investing with this plan in mind for several years.
We live in South-East Michigan; and so our Strategies are to create a greater cash reserve working luxury Short Sales locally; and mid-term to invest in Multi-Family outside of our geographic area.
Do you have any advice for us, please?

Excellent advice!

Motivation is such a problem for many people. This is understandable as we're constantly questing ourselves: are we doing the right thing with our time, are we following the right career path, etc.

I also think an excellent way to stay motivated is to keep in mind ONE BIG GOAL. What is the ONE BIG GOAL that you want to accomplish? Is it publishing a book? Generating $1 million in your business? Running a marathon?

Whatever it is, keep it in mind and constantly ask yourself, "What can I do today to get me close to my ONE BIG GOAL?"

Just my thoughts.

I am a big fan of Mr. Trump. Have not missed any of the Apprentice episodes.
Just purchased the audio book "Think Big and Kick Ass" today at Page One Bookstore in Taipei 101.
I hope that I will be able to see Mr. Trump in person someday and hear his speech.
