Shaking Hands, Turning Pages

Blog ImageI’ve always been against shaking hands as it’s a great way to pass along millions of germs. The other offense is when people lick their fingers before turning pages--that’s a fingerprint full of germs just waiting for the next person who picks up the paper. In this day and age, people should think about that. It’s not only unnecessary, it’s unhealthy and disrespectful of other people.

People are surprised when I shake their hands, and it’s only because it’s a custom (a bad one) that I do it, but I will always wash my hands afterwards. That’s not an offense to anyone. But you can’t wash off a paper, so that’s an offense that should be reckoned with. If you do this, stop, and let other people know it’s not acceptable if you see them doing it.

Sometimes we don’t realize how easy it is to infect others, and sometimes we don’t realize how easy it is to take precautions to avoid it. There’s no reason to take chances or to make other people susceptible. Shaking hands, turning pages? Think about it.

While your advice is well taken, Mr. Trump, and you are right that human touch can pass germs, and the human mouth is filled with them, rather than focus on the germs which are rampant, I prefer to celebrate the human body and its absolutely amazing ability to recognize and disable such attacks! We should all understand there are germs everywhere. A dishcloth harbors more than you would ever want to consider. Have you ever had someone collect samples from your home? Couches, counters, handrails and material surfaces could make you shudder. Check out the seats in the opera! My point is germs are everywhere, and we have to learn to live with them while reducing our own risk of toxic exposure. I realize I don't know what has touched book pages or anything else for that matter, but touch alone shouldn't infect me. Actually, there are even risks inside the paper. Have you ever read about toxic shock syndrome? The act of moistening a finger isn't nearly as impacting as the act of washing your hands frequently, and taking care of your health. Hygiene is important. Touch isn't the real problem. Ingestion is.

One more series of afterthoughts - OK, I promise not to moisten my fingers or shake your hands. I think I am more concerned about toxic residue such as Meth, black mold, and germ warfare than touching a book or a hand. When I think of this, I am reminded of the condition in so many villages lacking water purity. Check out Afghanistan natural resources. They have some great info on the net. They aren't able to wash away germs - there are more germs in the water than on the hands. Aren't you grateful to be here, to have access to pure water, soap, germ killers and antibiotics?

I have think that same thing also many times, especially nowadays it has come inevitably important to notice this bad habbit. I have notice that many cashiers also are lickering their fingers when they are counting money in stores, it is very nasty habbit, because they are after that touching other peoples foodshoppings.

Shaking hands is not SO bad, but it is good when there is a common recommendation to not shake hands when diseases will decrease in that way, it can be said to your business partners also and it is generally accepted.

Trump: The Top mover and shaker: may your family continue in health and wealth.

I agree whole heartedly. Be very careful with your health because health is foundation to wealth. Sickness and diseases are deal breakers. Also it seems to me that there is "health" war of terror being carried out against the American people. Suddenly media says there are thousands of more deaths from the swine flu then was previously reported. You see very long lines for swine flu shots on TV then the media says that over 50% of the people are against having the vaccine. Confusing. Do not eat swine.

Then out of the blue a governmental study says that some women should change their mammogram routine which caused great consternation among women, which forced the government to say that women should continue their previous routines. Let’s see what comes up next. The government, as usual, is up to something and confusion is their weapon of choice. But, we the people, we win as long as we stay in faith in God's love for us, and not fall into fear. Fear attacks your immune system.

My favorite is the attendant at the local Costco licking his finger in front of all customers before handing them the weekly flyer. Needless to see I never took one of those flyers.

People (and animals) show affection by touching. The handshake is a symbol of trust. You are bonding with a person in mutual respect even if your ideas are in opposition.
If you want to know the truth about viruses and spreading diseases, look no further than the medical and scientific community. The latest virus being spread is implanted into millions of chicken eggs, then stored and injected into the bodies of healthy children and adults. Doctors who make their money from the imbalances of individual bodies have a built in money machine. Weapons of destruction are being encouraged by misinformed politicians that feel important as they dole out billions of taxpayers dollars on inventions that were deliberately designed to bring misery and human suffering to the masses.
I have studied history with a passion to try to understand the current problems we are facing globally.
Shaking hands is not in the top 20 concerns for global destruction. What's next, Radiation Therapy?

Perhaps not the biggest issue in the world, none the less I never liked when someone lick their fingers to turn a paper. Not shaking hands is a bit over the top, but skip the licking.

Although in these times I might take a bit more precaution.

I get a kick out of shaking hands, when someone looks you straight in the eyes, with a genuine smile and reaches out, a third person has actually bothered to introduce you... it’s a happy moment for me. One of two things can happen; it can either start right there, or it can start and finish right there, and I find that all a bit magical. On rare occasions my hand has been positively glowing after shaking hands with someone who I genuinely wanted to meet. I hope Mr Trump that if ever I met you, you wouldn’t deny me that pleasure. It’s just a moment in time. Enjoy.

As for licking my fingers whilst turning a page, I must confess I did it for the first time only a few days ago, a newspaper no less, I thought to myself, what ARE you doing, this is horrible!

TWO HANDS ARE BETTER THAN ONE

To Mr. Trump

At one time, I started a small business and didn't know what to name it and thought hard about it. I came up with the name "Handshake Graphics". I added an extra title to it saying, "An agreement of working together to make a difference". I believe that a handshake was a good symbol to represent how both sides play their part. You can only do so much on your own, but when you come together, a whole lot more can happen.

I'm assuming you have heard this quote : Two Hands Are Better Than One

What do you think?

Mr. Trump,

I recently read a Business Week article on how the Tri-State has a high incidence of communicable diseases. In light of the Swine Flu epidemic we're going through, I could understand the way you feel... you actually wrote a blog last year concerning this issue, and I commented how the media likes to poke fun at you for how Trump refuses to shake hands. I said, it's totally understandable how a highly visible individual like yourself will not want to shake hands with everyone that you meet on the street although I doubt you even walk down the street much vs. riding in your limo, right?

You were giving a speech in New York a couple of years back, and you had Q & A afterwards; I fully understand how you had to incorporate some comedy into it, to make your speech interesting... and I remember how you made fun of this man's looks, but then you discovered the man's family were tenants in one of your buildings, yea... and you had to close by saying something nice about this man's boy? Heh. Well, point being, you never know who wants to shake your hand.

But it's just important to wash your hands out afterwards, agreed, and people are really hoping the soap dispenser is still full when they go into restrooms these days. I carry with me a bottle of hand sanitizer when I work in the field, in response to Swine Flu. I rarely take the trains in the city, but if I get off the train or bus, I'll quickly use some all the same. You can shake someones hand, then, once you part ways, just use some sanitizer... problem solved.

No matter what, it is important to always wash your hands and keep them clean. Adults need good hygeine as much as children do. If you are educated about the exchange of germs, make it a habit of practice by acknowledging what you've learned, and not continuing to add to the problem. If shaking hands is not for you because of fear of germs, thats fine, it's a free country, do what it takes to make you happy and in good health.

Dear Mr. Trump:

It was my sincerest privilege and honor to have had the recent opportunity to be one of the your 'Apprentices' to have shaken your hand at the Official Launch of The Trump Network in Miami, Florida. It is well documented of your disfavor of 'shaking hands' with the general public. In this day-and-age, your disfavor of doing so lends much credibility - especially considering flu-like illnesses. Someone of your caliber and popular demand should take additional measures of protecting himself.

Ironically, as I stood standing there in the greeting line (for several hours) awaiting your arrival, we all wondered if you were going to shake hands with your 'Apprentices' of The Trump Network. Most thought of your disfavor and ruled it out. Low and behold, your exciting and bold greeting of us amazed us all as you offered a gentleman's handshake to a select few of those in the greeting line. As you turned to me and looked me into the eyes, I took a chance and extended my hand to you and said, "Mr. Trump, thank you for the opportunity!" As the gentleman you are, you extended your hand to shake mine and sincerely replied, "You're welcome!" (You must have noticed my new Trump Tie and Trump Cuffed Fitted Dress Shirt I just bought!) (LOL)

Nonetheless, your points expressed in this blog are well received. Even if you hadn't extended a gentleman's handshake to me (and others), we would not have taken it offensive. Like they say, "It is what it is."

I think we all agree about being careful not to spread germs, especially with all that is going on. A handshake is probably not the worst offender though. Have you heard what is on money?
