One way I stay on top of things is to realize there’s a flip side to everything. It keeps me circumspect in both good and bad times. This produces a learning curve, which is a smart way to look at problems or the curveballs that come your way. There are highs and lows in everyone’s life. Whether you’ve reached your goals or not, staying on top of things requires momentum on a daily basis.
If you’re riding high or having tough times, it applies to both situations. It’s a sound base from which to operate. There is the saying “courage is grace under pressure” and keeping an altitude in your attitude is key. Riding high pertains to both high and low times.
You’ve heard me talk about the challenges I’ve faced, and some of them were huge. When I look back, I realize what got me through was just plain seeing myself at the top of the game despite the circumstances. I knew circumstances change and I refused to give in to the negatives. Seeing yourself on top will keep you there.

Personally, I've known times of financial hardship, and in this economy, many have, and yet, throughout it all, there had always been something that kept me going... I can remember when I was listening to Tony Robbins, the motivational speaker, on a speaking tour, of which you were a part... once you've had the taste of the "good life," well, you never would never want to settle for anything less, or as Tony put it, "first, turn your 'shoulds,' into 'musts,'" and all of a sudden, you have a new perspective on business, and you begin to find solutions...
I even recall you giving some similar advice in your speech... "I was in debt, but I was still taking out loans and bought a mansion in Connecticut... don't let anyone tell you how you should live"... well said; when you "have no quit," you have this engine, that drives you to success. Another thing I recall you saying, about your hindsight concerning your financial troubles back in the early 90s... "see problems developing early, and get rid of them fast, before they have a chance to ruin you." Now from what I know of what went on, you were going through a nasty divorce, and you just didn't keep your focus on what was going on in the marketplace until it was too late. When all the critics were saying you were finished, you still rebounded, whereas other developers you knew didn't. I think today, bankruptcy is giving a lot of people a fresh start in their finances, and also making people more cautious with how they borrow for the future, too.

Thank you for guiding us to be a better person in business. I am an immigrant, came to US in 1999. I listen to your advice on internet, television etc. It has motivated me to pursue career in real estate. Reading your "Staying on top" blog has motives me to hope for the best.
Thanks you once again.

I just add, that Beliveing yourself on top will keep you there. And only for those people for whom Belief means Conviction turned into the Action.

Sometimes, it isn't so much speed in momentum as it is focus on the next step or hand hold. The reality is that we must continue to act and move, because at the pace of business today, when you stop, you become roadkill. The world will pass you by.
In the whole scheme of life, we are not significant. Life existed before we came, and it continues to flow when we go. The biggest challenge isn't the things that happen to us, it is how we choose to happen to them, and finding ways to have lasting positive impact.
The picture you chose to go with this post is beautiful. It illustrates the higher you climb, the better the view, and we each choose the direction in which we gaze - where we want to go, where we have been, or the beauty of the moment.

1. You should never be sorry about what did happen
2. A success see in every situation her own will becoming true and take a look to the future.
3. A success knows that a failure in some situations belongs to life and is not the worth of being sorry
4. A succes see always her aim and knows that the way to successfull life is sometimes rocky
5. A success is a sure feeling today, not a thing or achievement tomorrow
Rising above tough times really separates some of
the most successful entrepreneurs from the ones
who settle for mediocrity.

I agree. If you can see it, you can achieve it. If you are willing to pay the cost to be the boss. I saw Ivanka and Ivana on "The View" last Tuesday and I was very impressed. What caught my attention the most was the picture of you and Melania. Regal Melania was created for the camera. Her beauty is astounding. I have another one on your books: "TRUMP Think Like a Billionaire" and the pictures of Melania are outstanding, classic and should be in world renown art galleries. Congratulations.
Trump, Ivanka and Ivana were like two stunningly beautiful ballerinas. Their entrance was perfect. Ivanka came out first, then waited for Ivana to come out and take the lead to the couch. Great choreography and respect. Their love for each other was obvious. I have not seen Ivana for years. She is looking marvelous and her hair style was sweet.
My respect for Ivanka increased. She was charming, intelligent and fashionable as usual. Trump, Ivanka not wearing her wedding ring, that day, was a very interesting touch. To me it said that her conversion did not transform her into a submissive personality and it also revealed a unique understanding between her and her husband. Ivanka’s book "The Trump Card: Playing To Win in Work and Life" is top priority on my "To Do" list.
