Blog ImageThe following question was submitted to "Ask Donald Trump" by a Trump University member.

Question: On what would you spend a million dollars with today’s economy?

My Response:
As I understand real estate, that’s what I would invest in. I have recently bought two golf courses, one in Washington, D.C. on the Potomac River and one in Colts Neck, New Jersey. They are beautiful sites and worth the investment. As a developer, there is great satisfaction in making something spectacular. Every moment is exciting, even with the problems. It’s a challenging economy we’re dealing with today but there are ways around it. If you are to spend that money, just make sure you have done thorough research, and know your territory.

Maybe you need to take a second honeymoon. Just kidding!
Thinking about business all the time isn't healthy.
You need to relax and have some fun once in awhile.
It helps your sense of humor.
Your wife might like this more than another golf course.
Why don't you ask her which one she would rather have.
If she says a golf course, oh well... guess the party needs more chocolate and flowers
I'm a romantic. A nice getaway sounds worth a million dollars.
When you get back you can work on developing five new courses with all the energy you'll have.
Think about it!

This is great advice: Do your homework, do what you love, do what you know, add beauty, invest your time, create something spectacular. There is joy in doing what you were born to do and using all of your talents and abilities, and more to the point. you are practicing what you preach. What I like best about your investment is the benefit to the whole community. You are providing green spaces that add value to the community. You are providing places for excercise, recreation and socialization. You are making the world a better place.

Think that you are the greatest promoter since P.T. Barnum and that whatever you decide to promote with all your heart will do well. People love to watch you- love your positive energy and your conviction that whatever you decide to do is the best course possible. Think that you should invest your energy and not worry about the money- what gets your investment of yourself is the investment that succeeds.

Another wise piece of advice I received. Don't spend your resources - invest them.

Donald Trump is an amazing individual. I have talked to folks who just like to find fault. That is totally counter productive. Let's focus on things we can do to improve this ol' world of our and ourselves as well. Mr. Trump has given us all this opportunity. This year 2010 is coming to be more tumultuous in financial markets as year 2009 was. We are going downhill till the summer 2010 and therefore we must take a new insight to future and get the real tight grasp to our doings and financial matters. Now it is best to look and think twice before acting. Now is also the right time to invest in land or to precious buildings or building grounds or perhaps in gold itself, it is important to invest.

I was planning to buy investment property in Canada, but the market here is still inflated and I'm not able to find good deals. I just started looking in US and the market there looks much more promissing. One of the reasons I come to this blog is to educate myself about real estate, as I'm planning to make it integral part of my investment portfolio.

Dear Mr. Trump,

There are tons of properties being mismanaged in Washington State. Alpine Village Apartments and all properties managed by Spinnaker Property Management need to be put out of business, the buildings leveled and demolished, and definitely new Management on all levels. Will you please take a break and come out here to show these idiots how to run a Property Management company ?
At Alpine Village Apartments, they politely asked me to quickly leave after I had a severe allergic asthma attack in an enclosed hallway which I was forced to walk through to get to my apartment. I have an $800 air purification system in my apartment. I nearly died on December 3rd due to these idiots. They spend more time trying to cover up and lie about their incompetence when it is just as easy and equal energy to do the damn job right ! Myself and the Healthcare providers called in the Thurston County Public Health Department and they made the apartment complex post "Smoking Prohibited" signs which were all removed by the HUD Section 8 people who are on disabilities due to being mentally challenged. I apologized that I could not hold my breath long enough in the hallways to get to my front door and inside my apartment. Not once have I ever been late on rent. Being a former Government Social Worker III, the HUD Section 8 people were constantly knocking on my door begging for money, food, cussing me out because the welcome wagon informed me they do not tolerate " Cop Callers." There is BLACK MOLD in apartment D-6 and there is a young newly married couple living in there. The BLACK MOLD is all over the walls and ceiling. The 22 year old woman is five months pregnant and Alpine Village Apartment Management and Spinnaker Property Management will not maintain the apartments to keep their residents safe and healthy. However, when it comes time to pay rent, if anyone has their rent late a day, two days, a death in the family, they post an eviction notice on the person's door. I was told over 15 times in front of witnesses I have done nothing wrong. I know it is "classic retaliation because of my report to the emergency room doctors when they were asking me what happened after it took them approximately three hours to get me breathing on my own due to my apartment managers not following the " CLEAN INDOOR AIR ACT. " This apartment complex has also told me to my face I am not getting my deposits returned. My place is very clea, my rent never late, and I even paid $3800 rent in advance when I received my social security lump sum check. Instead of doing business with integrity and good character, they made me the villian. Everyone on my apartment floor knows it ! Still, they are bullying me and getting away with it. The only good part for me is my friends loaned me a little money, my good neighbors stepped up to move my heavy things, and we are all desperately hanging together to protect one another. Spinnaker Property Management in Gig Harbor keeps mixing HUD Section 8 nutcases with private paying residents. It is NOT WORKING ! Last week, a man across the hall I have been the " first responder " for in the three years I lived at these apartments DIED in his apartment. He had mental health problems and I had to send tons of emails and make telephone calls just to get the case manager and social workers at BHR, Behavioral Health Resources to get off their lazy butts and help him. All they do is CREDENTIAL QUOTE AND LEAD WITH THEIR EGOS. In times when people need leadership and genuine help, crendential quoting is only good if you are at your parent's table and they are telling you how proud they are of you. It is only a pathetic excuse for laziness in any other situation where they are denying help.
On your new upcoming apprentice show, if anyone thinks they can do good business by leading with their egos, credential quoting, or hostility. FIRE THEM IMMEDIATELY !

Dear Mr. Trump,

Please head on out West in the Seattle area and all over the Pacific Northwest there are properties which need good level headed managers. Yes, I mean apartment complexes.

Dear Mr Trump
Hello and a late "Happy New Year" to you and your family!
Since you clearly are an expert in development, have you ever visited gettysburg Pa.? There are beautiful sites for a Country Club Golf resort. I feel it would be a terrific and financially wise investment. Since Gettysburg is historical as well and thousands of visitors come to our Beautiful City all year round, perhaps having a Trump resort here will work out in a win win situation for all. I know you have been to carrol Valley years ago. That is a nice course in the mountains of cactoctin. With Ski Liberty and all is a great site. However, gettysburg is just miles from the Maryland Line and if you do some research you will find has many courses here in the county The Links is one of the finest in the area. Perhaps along with the resort you would include a Family Center for indoor Ice skating and roller skating and bowling allys with arcade, and outdoor putt putt golf. That would be the most amazing attraction and beneficial for the community and for Trump Investments. I wish you would consider it. I believe is a terrific idea. Take care!
Your friend in Gettysburg Pa
