ABSOLUTELY! I would go one step further. Special forces should be sent in and free her immediately. Bring her back to the US and let them have her appeal trial in absentia. She is clearly innocent and has been in Italian jails for 3 years. Exactly WHY hasn't the US State Dept. done more regarding this mockery of justice? No American family should send their child to study in Italy!!!

We tend to judge others in a different manner than ourselves. Reality - not everyone is born with the same ability, capacity, wisdom, integrity as you, and in every human endeavor, there are competent people who achieve excellence, and then there are those who make you wonder how they ever managed to even tie their shoes (thank goodness for velcro). There are also some who choose to deliberately make decisions that affect the greater good negatively - based on their own largest personal gain. What do you believe were the motivators behind why he chose to crucify Miss Knox? How can you use that motive to allow him to change the situation, and can you do it without personal attacks that cause him to lose face - or does he need to be crucified too? Can we change his perspective so he can see the situation from a fuller view? Who are the people in the prosecutors sphere of influence? Are some of those people receptive to a broader view? Can they motivate and inspire him to find a better solution? There are many different ways to accomplish the same things. Some are forceful and quick, but often cause a lot of additional damage, and many of them ultimately undermine the real objective. Some are gentle, take a while to work, but then are much more permanent and internalized.

While not everyone has pure motives, from each persons perspective, he or she can usually justify decisions. Most of us believe we are right. Most of us believe we acted fairly. Most of us are imperfect and make mistakes. I believe the prosecutor's personal needs may have gotten in his way - perhaps hunger for power, ego, ambition, a distrust of foreign students?

If this prosecutor is acting deliberately to cause harm, then, as in martial arts, how can we step aside and use his motives and momentum to remove him from his post?

How can we support Miss Knox and help her to use this time for continued growth? Is she still able to study? Does she have internet access? Is she keeping a blog or diary? I should think book rights are in order.

We do need to protect the rights of the innocent, of all nationalities, and this situation may be a good launching pad to bring public awareness. It may also prove to be a defining moment for Miss Knox. She should have great empathy for others in this situation, and she should have much to contribute in righting inequities.

Yes! The United States if frankly wasting lives and money in Iraq & Afghanistan when the real affront to the U.S. is the railroading of Amanda Knox for a murder in Italy. Knox was clearly not present at the time of the crime, She had no motive to harm Merideth Kercher and the motive attributed to her, Satanism, is patently absurd given her history. Italy has a superstitious, inquisition-like legal system, and a press that, in it's entirety, appeals to the lowest element of the reading public.

Nevertheless, the Obama administration is obviously overwhelmed trying to resolve the problems created by the Bush administration and is unable to focus any of its resources on this human tragedy in Italy.

So, I propose this: resolute Americans determined to free Amanda Knox, let's pool some of our resources, hire mercenaries and bomb the tower of Pisa. It's been leaning for centuries. Let's bring it down. Then send a message to the government to return the American girl to the U.S.

Now, this is Italy. These people are known for stubborn pig-headedness. So we'll have to be prepared to bomb the Colosseum. Turn it into rubble. I think that will show them how serious we are. If not... Italy has some of the most valuable art treasures in the world. The blatant destruction of them will deeply affect the fiscal health of this nation, not the richest in Europe.

The detention of Amanda Knox is a political statement by Italy. It is retaliation for imagined affronts against Italy by the U.S. Government in recent years. Unlike normal political retaliation, this impacts American families and the American people. If the American people must wage war on Italy without the aid of our government, so be it. Such actions are not unprecedented in the U.S. although I would say this will be the most ambitious of it's kind. Who's with me?

Our family was planning on taking 19 members of the family on a three week tour of Italy in December of 2010 to celebrate my in-laws 60th anniversary. We have been to Italy numerous times and taken our two sons numerous times. We will no longer expose any family member to a country that has no sense or system of laws or justice. Until Italy enters the modern era of laws that are run for Justice and the benefit of the people and not to support the ego's/careers of madmen who know enough about law to be a danger to all, I will not expose our family to the great dangers of traveling in Italy. Count 19 tourist who will be visiting other European destinations in December 2010 due to Italy's system of laws that are supported by self serving madman instead of professionals working toward protecting the people.

Amanda Knox and her Italian boyfriend are both examples of this out of control system of government run by madmen. Sad, sad, sad to see Italy once a romantic and historice destination is really still operating back in the time of the 1920's and 30's. Hopefully the madmen who are running the legal system in Italy today do not end up in the town square hung, only in a modern jail with well educated public minded professionals in their place.

But this is not really a problem that Donald Trump can solve. Donald Trump is an investor- he's a builder- he's a man of vision- he's a mentor. These people need you more than we need another golf course- but I bet that you COULD build the world's greatest golf course there- and it would be awesome.

Donald- You really COULD build the world's greatest and most profitable golf course in Haiti. Over 1000 miles of dramatic coastline- with mountains in the background and black sand. Temperate climate year round. Cooperative government- large population looking for work and a new life. But with the whole world trying to help, the window of opportunity is closing. It won't take long for the people who are helping to see the opportunity. We've closed our eyes on Haiti due to the suffering- but the suffering is so huge that the world is now focused on Haiti. A trial is supposed to be the legal remedy for injustice, whether in Italy or anywhere else.
If we are to determine guilt or innocense by a popular emotional survey, then half the people
in the world would be awaiting trial.
Perhaps arrangements can be made to have an appeal and hold a second trial here in the United States where the language and customs aren't a barrier for her or her legal representatives.
She has an attorney. Sometimes an attorney "takes the money but does nothing to help the client."
So, I also question the attorneys' ability to prepare and defend a client from another country.
If Amanda Knox is innocent of the charges, the media needs to get more involved. It is criminal to know someone is innocent and "do nothing."

I just emailed the US Department of Defense asking them to rescue Amanda Knox. I contacted Military Intelligence. I am asking that everyone follow my lead. I let them know that initially we were respecting the Government's priorities and now since the Italian Prosecutor Mignini has been found guilty of abusing his power on another murder case, is not being incarcerated when there is no DNA on Amanda, why are they teaching Afghan and Iraqi soldiers to protect themselves while ignoring the fact that the corrupt Perugia,Italy government is illegally incarcerating Amanda Knox. I began my email with asking them not to laugh. I know how some military soldiers think. However, I presented the idea, if Amanda were their daughter, sister, cousing, grandaughter, then, what would how would they be motivated differently to help her. As much as I would love to see this girl set free...what about all the evidence that says that she had a role in it? Yes the prosecutor is an **** but if there is evidence saying she did it then you can't blame anyone for her for looking guilty.

Unfortunately, as much as I love America, Amanda's guilty and there is a mountain of evidence against her. Much of it was not reported in the American media. I don't know if this was due to the Knox/ Mellas PR campaign's influence (or money); or because journalists know that controversy and nationalism increase ratings and readership. Or if American reporters were content to rely on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hand information (which often appears to have been the case) rather than reading the court transcripts in their entirety.

No one who has read the legal transcripts can say with any credibility that Knox is innocent. She was buying bleach the morning after the crime, has no alibi, and tried to frame an innocent man. All three are VERY GUILTY and the guilty verdicts will become clear when the Italian court formally releases its arguments and reasoning in March.

I am involved in the Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito cause. I am sure you are aware that the Italian court has released the Reasoning report from the conviction. They have not released an English translation of this report or of the Micheli report that came before it. I saw on your interview with Kathi Goertzen that you might be willing to help the Knox family. It would help tremendously if you could use your contacts to get these two reports translated to English and posted online for everyone to read. This Cause needs to be able to read these reports to fight back about all the misinformation out there.
